1. CALL TO ORDER
Steve Hatzenbeler called the meeting to order at 6:03
2. ROLL CALL/INTRODUCTIONS
Edmonds Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services representative Jenn Leach attended the
meeting. She is coordinating environmental stewardship and planting efforts of multiple
groups. The volunteer hours can be tracked and contribute to Tree City USA certification —
they currently are not tracked that way, but they may be in the future.

The agenda was approved
4. AUDIENCE COMMENTS
No comments
5. APPROVAL OF MEETING NOTES
June meeting notes were approved
6. OLD BUSINESS
a. Tree Board University: Doug has completed the online program; he suggested budgeting
approximately 10 hours to complete.
b. EPA Water Quality Scorecard: Jed reviewed the tree retention and canopy elements in
the EPA WQS. Steve suggested/reminded Tree Board members that it will strengthen
future presentations/pitches of ideas if we can tie back to established City of Edmonds
policies. It's unknown if the City has completed the EPA WQS, but there are policies in
place such as the Comprehensive Plan, Mayors' Climate Protection Plan, and the
upcoming Urban Forest Management Plan. We should check with Public Works if they're
interested in completing the EPA WQS.
c. Jenn Leach will add the Arbor Day Celebration to the City's website, and will investigate
if planting plan has been prepared. Tree Board input will be solicited on the planting
plan.
d. Jenn Leach will contact various community groups to publicize the Arbor Day
Celebration. In future years, she advised that the Tree Board get events in the City's
publication Craze.
e. The City will have plants and tools on site for the event.
f. Receipts for expenses from the Cass Turnbull presentation should be submitted using
the reimbursement form emailed to members June 13.
g. Tree Board members will meet with Rich Lindsay at the Main Street site to plan for the
October 15 Arbor Day planting event. Date TBD.
7. NEW BUSINESS
a. The group decided to have a table at the Edmonds Summer Market in September.
Someone needs to contact Jerry Freeland about a date.
b. City's Green Resource Center at Development Services is open. It would be good to add
some tree preservation items. Send them to Jeanie McConnell.
