November meeting notes were distributed via email. Please bring corrections/comments.
6) Old Business/Discussion
• 1 was contacted by the Edmonds Parks Department about a planting event they are planning around Earth Day
(also about the same time as National Arbor Day, late April), asking if the Tree Board is interested in partnering
on the event? Jenn Leach will attend to tell us more about the event.
• Tree Board University. Progress?
• Event planning for 2017—Discuss potential events to try to get a 2017 calendar started. We will revisit this early
2017 to finalize. Events such as: Tree identifier tags; Speakers (Cass Turnbull, representative of Plants for
Planets, etc.); Planting event(s); Heritage Tree Program; Larger Arbor Day event; School District partnering for
on -campus tree planting; More robust educational outreach; Ivy removal project; Joint event(s) w/ Parks, Floretum
Garden Club, Edmonds in Bloom, etc. Please bring ideas!
7) New Business
• Tree Board note -taker: we could hire a note taker like we had in 2014 and 2015. I'm not sure of the cost, but I can
look into it; I believe it would be less than $100 per meeting. Thoughts?
• Start outline for City Council presentation early 2017.
• Mayors Climate Protection Committee has requested a meeting with the Tree Board. Who is available to attend?
