6) Old Business/Discussion
• Collaboration with Mayors Climate Protection Committee. 12/21/16 meeting recap. Look for educational outreach
collaboration in 2017 and beyond. How can we "market our product" better to the general public to help them
recognize the value of trees, and motivate them to consider effects on climate change, habitat, etc.
Event planning for 2017—Discuss potential events to try to get a 2017 calendar established. We will revisit this in
February 2017 to finalize if we don't conclude in January. Events such as: Earth Day event with Edmonds Parks;
Tree identifier tags; Speakers (Cass Turnbull, representative of Plants for Planets, etc.); Planting event(s);
Heritage Tree Program; Larger Arbor Day event; School District partnering for on -campus tree planting; More
robust educational outreach; Ivy removal project; Joint event(s) w/ Parks, Floretum Garden Club, Edmonds in
Bloom, etc. Please bring ideas!
7) New Business
• Tree Board Chairperson and Vice Chairperson nominations, selection
• Tree City USA update, if available
• Urban Forestry Management Plan consultant selection process; Doug and Diane comment on interview
• Start outline for City Council presentation early 2017.
