December and January meeting notes were distributed via email. Please bring corrections/comments.
6) Old Business/Discussion
• Event planning for 2017—Time to close out this discussion and establish our 2017 events calendar. Tentative list:
1) April, Earth Day Ivy Removal event w/ Parks Dept;
2) May, Tree ID Tags;
3) July, Edmonds in Bloom collaboration to celebrate trees in the EIB gardens;
4) August/September, Edmonds Summer Market;
5) October, Arbor Day planting event.
ALSO: Assign Tree Board event Chair for each event. Also discuss general budget expectations.
• Please attend the Tree Board's presentation at the City Council meeting March 14, a little after 7:00 pm. Steve
and Doug will present, and would appreciate attendance by as many Tree Board members as possible.
7) New Business
• New Tree Board member Introductions. Welcome Frank Caruso and Gail Lovell. Please tell us about your
background, goals, expectations, etc. Any questions for the Tree Board?
• Tree City USA update, if available
• New meeting note protocol: please distribute draft meeting notes (preferably in Word doc format) to Tree Board
members and Diane Buckshnis within 1 week after the meeting. Bring 1 hard copy of the notes to the next
month's meeting and record any revisions, and then get the final approved notes to Tree Board chairperson, who
will forward to City staff. Please use the template that Steve will distribute to the board so there is a reasonable
degree of uniformity.
• Tree Board budget planning/consultant scope of work discussion.
• Getting more people from outside the Tree Board involved in meetings, events, etc. How can we better engage
the community?
