Please bring corrections/comments. 6) Old Business/Discussion • Edmonds in Bloom event update: Doug • Arbor Day event planning —we need an event, a venue, a plan! • Edmonds UFMP—discussion of Tree Board member thoughts on Davey Resource Group's open house. If you didn't attend, please review the presentation on myedmondsnews.com • Materials for the Green Resource Room • Taming Bigfoot intro meeting was June 10. Did anyone attend? 7) New Business • Contract services —let's map out things we want to task Julia with; e.g., grant research. • Tree Walk project idea with Pat O'Neill • Discussion about why it is important to protect/retain trees. It seems like the message of environmental and habitat benefits and conservation is too vague and doesn't resonate with the general public well enough. Refining the message to more precise, understandable talking points is important for the benefit of the UFMP and also for the Tree Board's mission statement. • Pruning question from an Edmonds citizen: is it really detrimental to prune a tree in the summer? Preferred when it is dormant, but is there a risk of significant harm to the tree if pruning in the growing season? 8) Tree Board Member Ideas and Comments 9) Ad'lournment Future meetings August 3 and September 7, 2017
