Call to Order
Chair Jerry Janacek called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm.

Approval of Minutes
• Reviewed and approved July 2019 minutes (Longstaff/Johnson)
Finance Report: Reviewed April 2019 report
Chair Report:
• Introductions made; new board member Kerry Radley as well as prospective
board member Faye Locke
• Jerry will email Betty Gaeng to have her write a letter of resignation from the
board as she has moved to Alaska. We will ask if she would like to remain an
honorary board member; she is interested in doing research for the board for
Memorial Day and the Walk Back in Time.
• We will need a new Vice Chair; board member elections coming up in
November.
• Jerry reports three more meetings in 2019; September, October and
November.
• The spalling repair looks good around the columbarium.
Staff Report:
• Rich reports that Cliff is out of his cast.
• Seasonal worker Joe Passey's last day is August 16.
• There is $2,600 left in our advertising budget for 2019. Joan will contact
Kathy Harshbarger of My Edmonds news.com to come to the September
meeting to present advertising options to the board.
• Cemetery mapping is going well.
• Edmonds Rotary Noon Club is volunteering to sand and paint 800 feet of
railing at the columbarium on Saturday September 14th weather permitting.

• The City is searching for a replacement for Carrie Hite's position; there is a
candidate being interviewed on August 22nd.
• The office/garage at the cemetery is being painted.

Old Business:
• Reviewed our Walk Back in Time - all agree that it went smoothly;
recommendation made that we have a couple of chairs at each site for people
who need them.
• Talked about our Memorial Day program for 2020. We will be discussing the
theme of the program over the next 3 months. Melissa will contact the
commander of the VFW in the meantime to see if they have some ideas or
preferences.

• Will discuss marketing ideas at next meeting.
