2019-09-12 Edmonds Downtown Alliance MinutesSeptember 12, 2019 8:04 AM — 9:34 AM Edmonds Center for the Arts Meeting called to order at 8:04 AM Board Members/Administration in attendance: Matt McCulloch, Jenny Shore, Carol Sheldon, Mark VonGunten, Pam Stuller, Cheryl Farrish, and Carrie Hulbert. City of Edmonds representatives in attendance: Cindy Cruz and Patrick Doherty. Ed! Members/Guests: Tracy Strom of Affinity Contemporary Dentistry and Dave Buelow from the Edmonds Historical Museum. Public Comment: Dave Buelow of the Edmonds Historical Museum reported that the Scarecrow Festival is in it's 7tn year. Registration begins October 15t, voting begins on October 16tn. Results will be presented on November 0 Approval of previous meeting's minutes: Jenny moved to approve the meeting minutes of August 8, 2019. Pam seconded. All approved, none opposed. President's Report: Matt is continuing to encourage board recruiting. Treasurer's Report: Receipts year to date are not as high as expected compared to previous years. Carrie and Jenny will compare the BID master list to the City's list of businesses to make sure next year's budget reflects the most up to date information. New Businesses added to the BID: Jordan Law Firm Other Business: Budget: • Discussion of tightening budget expenses. We could reduce digital advertising. • Patrick requested financial support from Ed! as the City considers purchasing a trolley as part of their 2020 budget. They have already received a commitment of $20k from the Snohomish County Tourism Bureau to use on the purchase or maintenance of a trolley Pam made a motion to: Commit to assisting the city in securing $11,000 in sponsorship for the City Trolley Program. If we fail, we guarantee up to $2,000 from our budget. Also, we want to allow Matt to memorialize this in a memo to the City of Edmonds. Mark seconded the motion. All approved, none opposed. • $2,000 will be added to the Appearance and Environment budget. • We project lessening the Grant program to $2,000. • We could lessen After Hour Parking Signage budget for next year. • Carrie will give us a rundown of projected/actual budget for committee meeting discussions. City Update: • City Budget Process is in the works: o Includes DEMA- wayfaring signage request o Lodging committee pledged to donate towards wayfaring signage • Dayton Street project is almost done, project meeting tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM • Parking Study — Council has stopped the study due to cost. City will be using drones and other means to collect some data behind the scenes in preparation for a possible upcoming study. • Ferry line audio and signage will be up soon. • Summer Trolley was well used for transportation as well as entertainment. City is considering purchasing a trolley. Lodging Commission would like to donate towards the purchase of a trolley.
