WHEREAS, the officials of the City of Edmonds feel there
is a definite need for more revenue for many of the cities and
towns of the State of Washington, and
WHEREAS, the officials of the City of Edmonds feel that
cities and towns should have more local control to levy taxes to
satisfy the needs of their citizens, and
WHEREAS, permissive authority for cities and towns to
levy a small sales tax is an excellent method for broadening the
tax base to satisfy these needs and obtain the needed revenue,
NOW, THEREFORE.. IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City
Council of the City of Edmonds:
That the City of Edmonds favors a permissive sales tax
limited to two-thirds of one per cent, and hereby urges,our
legislative representatives to enact such a law.
