WHEREAS, on February 19, 19 63, a petition was submitted to the City
Council of the City of Edmonds that an election be held to determine whether or
not certain areas contiguous to the City of Edmonds should be annexed to said City
under Chapter 282, 1961 Session Laws of the State of Washington, and
WHEREAS, on March 5th, 1963,. the Snohomish County Auditor certified
that said petition contained more than sufficient signatures for the validation of
said petition, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds has determined
that it is to the best interests of the City of Edmonds and the citizens of the area
requesting an annexation election that such election be held,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EDMONDS:
1. That the City Council of the City of Edmonds has determined that the
best interests and general welfare of the City of Edmonds would be served by the
annexation of certain unincorporated property, presently contiguous to the said
City of Edmonds, which property is more particularly described as follows:
All property south of the present City limits of Edmonds that
also lies north of Edmonds Way and west of Highway 99,
Snohomish County, Washington (identified as the south central area)
2. That there are, as nearly as may be ascertained, 2, 442 voters re-
siding within the above described property.
3. That in the event an election be called, the City of Edmonds will pay
the cost of such election.
4. That the City of Edmonds prays that the Commissioners of Snohomish
County call an election to be held amongtthe qualified voters of the above described
area upon the question of annexation; and
5. That there also shall be submitted to the electorate of the territory
above described, a proposition that all property within the area annexed shall,
upon annexation, be assessed and taxed at the same rate and on the same basis
as the property of such annexing City is assessed and taxed to pay for any then
outstanding indebtedness of the City to which said area is annexed, contracted ��
prior to, or existing at, the date of annexation.
