WHEREAS, on March 5, 1963, a petition was submitted to the City
Council of the City of Edmonds that an election be held to determine whether or
not certain areas contiguous to the City of Edmonds should be annexed to said
City under Chapter 282, 1961 Session Laws of the State of Washington, and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1963, the Snohomish County Auditor certi-
fied that said petition contained more than sufficient signatures for the valida-
tion of said petition, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds has determined
that it is to the best interests of the City of Edmonds and the citizens of the area
requesting annexation that such an annexation election be held,
NOW, THEREFORE;, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EDMONDS:
1. That the City Council of the City of Edmonds has determined that
the best interest and general welfare of the City of Edmonds would be served by
the annexation of certain unincorporated property, presently contiguous to the
said City of Edmonds, and designated as the North End annexation area, which
property is more particularly described in Schedule "A", legal description,
attached hereto.
2. That there are, as nearly as may be ascertained, 2, 431 voters
residing within the said described property.
3. That in the event an election be called, the City of Edmonds will
pay the cost of such election.
4. That the City of Edmonds prays that the Commissioners of Sno-
homish County call an election to be held among the qualified voters of the said
described area upon the question of annexation; and
5. That there also shall be submitted to the electorate of the territory
above described, a proposition that all property within the area annexed shall,
upon annexation, be assessed and taxed at the same rate and on the same basis
as the property of such annexing City is assessed and taxed to pay for any then
