WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds has now approved and adopted the
official Comprehensive Plan for the City of Edmonds as proposed by Clark
Coleman and Rupeiks, Inc., dated May 1, 1963, and
WHEREAS, said Comprehensive Plan includes within it areas to
be zoned and acquired for public open space, and
WHEREAS, the Puget Sound Governmental Conference has entered
into a memorandum of agreement relating to the preservation of open space
land in the central Puget Sound region with King, Kitsap, Pierce and Snohomish
Counties, and the cities of Bremerton, Everett, Seattle and Tacoma, dated the
sixth day of March, 1963, which agreement calls for the cooperation of the
various governmental units in the joint exercise of responsibility for the acquisi-
tion and preservation of permanent regional open space land in the central Puget
Sound region, and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Edmonds in endeavor-
ing to obtain Federal Capital Assistance for funds to assist in acquiring lands
designated as public open space in the Edmonds Comprehensive Plan that they
participate in the above mentioned agreement,
NOW,; THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS that said City of Edmonds does desire
to participate i tle above mentioned agreement relating to the preservation and
acquisition of public open space land in the Puget Sound region and that said City
fully understands the conditions associated with the agreement and agrees to
the terms thereof.
