RESOLUTION NO. rr
WHEREAS, in the scheme of urban growth most efforts
are directed toward providing the necessities of life and
the development of necessary improvements to that end,
and
WHEREAS, as the years pass by human knowledge grows
at such a staggering rate that the individual spends longer
and longer to learn about less and less, and
WHEREAS, in the rush and expediency to apply this
expanding knowledge to our exploding urban areas, we too
often find the omission from our thoughts of the basic
beauty that transcends all of time and of all men, and
WHEREAS, certain men and women within this community
have had the foresight and taken the special effort to
remind the residents of the City of Edmonds, and all others
who wish to attend, of the basic beauty and philosophy ex-
pressed by the arts, too often forgotten, and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate and desirable that a com-
munity award public recognition and appreciation for out-
standing public service, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDMONDSO WASHINGTON, that the EDMONDS ARTS FESTIVAL, and
those who make it possible, be and the same hereby are
commended in this their ninth and finest annual presentation,
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the EDMONDS ART FESTIVAL
be and the same hereby is beseeched to return on each suc-
cessive year to the end that the arts and crafts presented
shall be permanently imbedded in the way of life of the
City we know as Edmonds.
