A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND NEW ADMINISTRATION TO
FURTHER PURSUE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FOR SEKAGE
TREATMENT WORKS EXPANSION AND EXTENSION PURSUANT
TO THE FEDERAL POLLUTION CONTROL ACT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds, Wash-
ington, a third class city, has approved a Comprehensive Sewage
plan entitled "Engineering Report on Comprehensive Sewerage Plan
for the City of Edmonds, Washington, June, 1965", and has adopted
the same by ordinance, and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Federal Pollution
Control Act City municipalities are eligible for a certain state
and federal grants to aid in financing the cost of construction,
expansion and extension of sewerage facilities, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary in the interest of protecting
the health, safety and general welfare of the City of Edmonds and
to prevent pollution of Puget Sound that the existing Edmonds sewage
treatment plant be expanded and extended, and
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 163 the City Council authorized
the Mayor to make formal application for available grants for the
construction and expansion of the Edmonds SeWagq- Treatment Plant,
and
WHEREAS, since the passage of said Resolution No. 163
on the date of October 17, 1967, a new Mayor and new members of
the City Council have been elected; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLaTS z
The newly elected Mayor, H. H. Harrison, is hereby
authorized to further pursue and continue the formal application
for available grants for the construction and expansion of the
Edmonds Sewage Treatment Plant, phase 1 and phase 2, and of Dutfall
extensions pursuant to the Federal Pollution Control Act adminis-
tered by the Federal Fater Pollution Control Administration in
conjunction with the Washington State Pollution Control Commis-
sion and enter into such agreements as necessary to comply with
the rules and regulations of said administering and granting
agencies.
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Edmonds,
Washington, at its regular meeting held on the 16th , day of April,
1968.
