A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
COMMENDING EUGENE THORNTON FOR HIS SERVICES TO
SAID CITY AND THE CITIZENS THEREOF
WHEREAS, it is appropriate and desirable that a com-
munity award public recognition for outstanding public
service rendered by individual citizens, and
WHEREAS, said EUGENE THORNTON has diligently served
the City of Edmonds, and the citizens thereof, as a mem-
ber of the Park Board, and
WHEREAS, EUGENE THORNTON voluntarily retired from said
position: much to the regret of his fellow city officials
and Park Board members, and
WHEREAS, during the time so spent, EUGENE THORNTON has
devoted himself unselfishly and without financial remuner-
ation to the spirit of bettering the community in which he
has so painstakingly served, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds, and
the officers and employees of said City deem it only fitting
that a commendation should be issued herewith for the time
and effort so spent by EUGENE THORNTON and that said commen-
dation should be made a part of the permanent records of said
City of Edmonds; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, that EUGENE THORNTON be hereby commended
for his unselfish dedication to the City of Edmonds and the
citizens thereof and for his guidance for the future and
better development of said City, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution
be furnished to the said EUGENE THORNTON and an additional
copy be entered in the permanent records of this City in
order that the citizens be forever aware of the high esteem
and respect in which EUGENE THORNTON has been, is and will
be held forevermore.
RESOLVED by the City Council this 16th day of July, 1968.
