A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
COMMENDING WALT PAYNE FOR HIS SERVICES TO SAID
CITY AND THE CITIZENS THEREOF
WHEREAS, it is appropriate and desirable that a commun-
ity award public recognition for outstanding public service
rendered by individual citizens, and
WHEREAS, said WALT PAYNE has diligently served the City
of Edmonds, and the citizens thereof, as a member of the
Planning Commission during the period when the Planning
Commission envisioned and recommended the comprehensive plan
and zoning for said City's projected future and present
environmental control, and
WHEREAS, WALT PAYNE voluntarily retired from said posi-
tion, being the member of said Planning Commission with the
longest tenure of service among the present members much to
the regret of his fellow city officials and Planning Commis-
sion members, and
WHEREAS, during the time so spent, WALT PAYNE has devoted
himself unselfishly and without financial remuneration to the
spirit of bettering the community in which he has so painstak-
ingly served, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds, and
the officers and employees of said City deem it only fitting
that a commendation should be issued herewith for the time
and effort so spent by WALT PAYNE and that said commendation
should be made a part of the permanent records of said City of
Edmonds; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHINGTON, that WALT PAYNE be hereby commended for his unsel-
fish dedication to the City of Edmonds and the citizens thereof
and for his guidance for the future and better development of
said City, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution
be furnished to the said WALT PAYNE and an additional copy
be entered in the permanent records of this City in order
that the citizens be forever aware of the high esteem and
respect in which WALT PAYNE has been, is and will be held
forevermore.
RESOLVED by the City Council this 20th day of August, 1968.
