A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR GRANT FOR SEWAGE COLLECTION
WORKS EXPANSION AND EXTENSION PURSUANT TO THE FEDERAL
POLLUTION CONTROL ACT AND THE HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOP-
MENT ACT.
W 0 EAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds, Washington,
a third class city, has approved a comprehensive sewerage plan
entitled, "Engineering Report on Comprehensive Sewerage Plan for the
City of Edmonds, Washington, June 1965,9' and has adopted the same by
ordinance, and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Federal Pollution Control
Act and the Housing and Urban Development Act, municipalities are
eligible for certain state and federal grants to aid in financing the
cost of construction, expansion and extension of sewerage facilities,
and
WIERBAS, the City of Edmonds, is extensively bordered on the
West by Puget Sound, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary in the interest of protecting the
health, safety and general welfare of the City of Edmonds and to
prevent pollution of Puget Sound that the Edmonds Sewage Collection
System be expanded and extended, now therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
The Mayor and/or City Engineer is authorized to make formal
_ application for available grants for construction and expansion of
the Edmonds Sewage Collection System, pursuant to the Federal
Pollution Control Act and the Housing and Urban Development Act
administered by the Federal Water Pollution Control Administration
and the Department of Housing and Urban Development in 000rdination
with the Washington State Water Pollution Control Commission, and
enter into such agreements as necessary to comply with the rules and
regulations of said administering and granting agencies.
