A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON
AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE
FOR A PARK AND RECREATION PROJECT (SUNSET BEACH
DEVELOPMENT) TO THE SNOHOMISH COUNTY CITY MATCH-
ING FUND FOR PARKS AND RECREATION.
WHEREAS, under provisions of the Snohomish County
Park and Recreation Bond Issue of 1967 and its Snohomish
County City Matching Fund for Parks and Recreation, funding
assistance to cities of the county has been authorized and
made available to aid in financing the acquisition and develop-
ment of parks and recreation facilities; and
WHEREAS, the adopted City of Edmonds Comprehensive
Plan provides for a park and recreation facility on the
waterfront north of the Edmonds ferry dock known as Sunset
Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds Comprehensive Park and
Recreation Plan recommends a salt water park and recreation
area on said Sunset Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds has acquired the said
Sunset Beach park property through negotiations and condem-
nation procedures and has now provided a development plan for
said park, which plan has been partially completed, and con-
siders it in the best public interest to complete development
of said waterfront park and recreation facility as proposed
and started; and
WHEREAS, by previous Resolution No. 183 and Resolu-
tion No. 223 the City Council of the City of Edmonds has
applied for and received matching funds from the Snohomish
County City Matching Fund for Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, said Snohomish County City Matching Fund for
Parks and Recreation has a balance of $14,955.23 available for
matching funds for the City of Edmonds to complete said

Sunset Beach project, which sum is less than that previously
expensed by the City of Edmonds from its own park and recrea-
tion funds; now, therfore,
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EDMONDS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City of Edmonds be and is hereby authorized to
make formal application to the Snohomish County City Matching
Fund for Parks and Recreation for the balance of said funds
available to the City of Edmonds in the sum of $14,955.23;
2. Said fund assistance to be used to finish the
development of the proposed Sunset Beach project as stated in
the project application;
3. Said Sunset Beach project, having been obtained
with financial aid to the Snohomish County City Matching Fund
for parks and Recreation and other state and federal matching
funds, said property shall be and has been placed in use as
a park and recreation facility and shall be retained in such
use in perpetuity unless otherwise provided and agreed to by
the City Council of the City of Edmonds, the Board of County
Commissioners for Snohomish County, and any other affected
state or federal agency; and
4. This Resolution shall become part of a formal
application to the Snohomish County City Matching Fund for
Parks and Recreation.
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Edmonds,
Washington at its regular meeting held on September 21, 1971.
