Resolution 250CITY OF EDMONDS
RESOLUTION NO.
WHEREAS, with considerable foresight two and one-half decades ago
Honorable Mayor Fourtner appointed DONALD C. LAWSON to the Water Depart-
ment staff of the City of Edmonds as of the date of March 18, 1948, and in less
than two years time the wisdom of that appointment was confirmed when on
February 21, 1950 the City Council confirmed the appointment of DONALD C.
LAWSON as Water Superintendant and chief of all departments, and
WHEREAS, thereafter in rapid succession under the tutelage of said
DONALD C. LAWSON the City prepared for its future growth and orderly
development by the creation of a Planning Commission and in successive enact-
ments adopted comprehensive plans for the future development of drainage,
sewerage, water, street layout and design, park acquisition and development,
capital improvements for future funding, to name only a few of the guidelines
developed under the direction of DONALD C. LAWSON, and
WHEREAS, implementation of such far-reaching developments under
the guidance of said DONALD C. LAWSON were undertaken in far too many areas
to herein delineate ranging from the more mundane in implementing a "911"
emergency communication system to the more esoteric in the nation's first
municipal underwater park, such activities being far too many to detail and too
accomplished to need magnification, suffice it to say herein that on November 17,
1960 he was named to the new office of City Supervisor, and on February 3, 1970
became Chief Administrative Officer, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds, and the officers
and employees of said City, deem it only fitting that a commendation should be
issued herewith for the time and efforts so spent by the said DONALD C. LAWSON
and that said commendation should be made a part of the permanent records of
said City of Edmonds, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHINGTON on this 4th day of January, 1972, that the said DONALD C. LAWSON
be hereby commended for his unselfish dedication to the City of Edmonds and
the citizens thereof and for his guidance for the future and better development
of said City, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be furnished
to the said DONALD C. LAWSON and an additional copy be entered in the per-
manent records of the City of Edmonds in order that the citizens be forever
aware of the high esteem and respect in which the said DONALD C. LAWSON has
been, is and will be held forevermore.
