Resolution 250CITY OF EDMONDS RESOLUTION NO. WHEREAS, with considerable foresight two and one-half decades ago Honorable Mayor Fourtner appointed DONALD C. LAWSON to the Water Depart- ment staff of the City of Edmonds as of the date of March 18, 1948, and in less than two years time the wisdom of that appointment was confirmed when on February 21, 1950 the City Council confirmed the appointment of DONALD C. LAWSON as Water Superintendant and chief of all departments, and WHEREAS, thereafter in rapid succession under the tutelage of said DONALD C. LAWSON the City prepared for its future growth and orderly development by the creation of a Planning Commission and in successive enact- ments adopted comprehensive plans for the future development of drainage, sewerage, water, street layout and design, park acquisition and development, capital improvements for future funding, to name only a few of the guidelines developed under the direction of DONALD C. LAWSON, and WHEREAS, implementation of such far-reaching developments under the guidance of said DONALD C. LAWSON were undertaken in far too many areas to herein delineate ranging from the more mundane in implementing a "911" emergency communication system to the more esoteric in the nation's first municipal underwater park, such activities being far too many to detail and too accomplished to need magnification, suffice it to say herein that on November 17, 1960 he was named to the new office of City Supervisor, and on February 3, 1970 became Chief Administrative Officer, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds, and the officers and employees of said City, deem it only fitting that a commendation should be issued herewith for the time and efforts so spent by the said DONALD C. LAWSON and that said commendation should be made a part of the permanent records of said City of Edmonds, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON on this 4th day of January, 1972, that the said DONALD C. LAWSON be hereby commended for his unselfish dedication to the City of Edmonds and the citizens thereof and for his guidance for the future and better development of said City, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be furnished to the said DONALD C. LAWSON and an additional copy be entered in the per- manent records of the City of Edmonds in order that the citizens be forever aware of the high esteem and respect in which the said DONALD C.
