RESOLUTION NO. 252
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
COMMENDING RICHARD SLYE FOR HIS SERVICES TO SAID
CITY AND THE CITIZENS THEREOF
WHEREAS, it is appropriate and desirable that a community award
public recognition for outstanding public service render -ed by individual
citizens, and
WHEREAS, RICHARD SLYE has diligently served the City of
Edmonds, and the citizens thereof, as a member of the City Council, having
been first elected in June of 1960 and having served continuously thereafter
until January 18, 1972, and
WHEREAS, said RICHARD SLYE in addition to his duties as City
Councilman, has served as a member of the Edmonds Volunteer Fire
Department since 1958 to the present, and
WHEREAS, in recognition of his outstanding leadership said
RICHARD SLYE was appointed to serve a four-year term ending in 1971 on
the Boa,Td of I;.he Snohomish County Health Djstrict and has also served on.
the Solid Waste Advisory Committee for South Snohomish County, was a
member of the Council street committees and capital improvements
committees and the past chairman of the council auditing committee, and
WHEREAS, during the time so spent, RICHARD SLYE has devoted
himself unselfishly in the spirit of bettering the community in which he has
so painstakingly served, and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Edmonds,
and the officers and employees of said City deem it only fitting that a
commendation should be issued herewith for the time and effort so spent by
RICHARD SLYE and that said commendation should be made a part of the
permanent records of said City of Edmonds, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, that RICHARD SLYE be hereby commended for
his unselfish dedication to the City of Edmonds and the citizens thereof and
for his guidance for the future and better development of said City, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be
furnished to the said RICHARD SLYE and an additional copy be entered in
the permanent records of this City in order that the citizens be forever aware
of the high esteem and respect in which RICHARD SLYE has been, is and will
be held forevermore.
RESOLVED by the City Council this 1st day of February, 1972.
