REPORTS -
A. Creative Programs
1. On the Fence — Muir suggested engaging schools to create a fence piece and Wilhelm noted the
possibility of it being a collaborative project rather than a competition. Discussion followed about
grade level, stipend, schedule and contacts with the school district. Staff will follow-up with EDS staff.
Commissioners thought it might also be an opportunity to work with the Youth Commission.
2. Film Series Proposal — Oneill presented a proposal for a new free film series on Sundays this winter. It
would focus on literary adaptations in film and each film showing will be followed by discussion
about how the film changes the way we think about the book. It will be a partnership with the
Library. Commissioners supported the partnership proposal.
3. Write on the Sound - Kaplan reported that there were many positive comments about content,
organization, funky setting, good panels, place you want to come back to etc. Lots of people thanked
us for how well organized the conference was.
4. Nominations — Chapin reminded Commissioners that the opening for the position currently filled by
Shaw has been advertised and applications are due Nov 20. It is for a visual arts position and the
person will hopefully participate in scheduling exhibits for the Library.
B. Capital Projects
C. Funding & Administration
STAFF REPORT— Chapin gave a quick update on the Civic Park project and briefly mentioned art element
opportunities.
