Call to Order
Chair Jerry Janacek called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm.

Approval of Minutes: Reviewed and approved minutes for November 2019 (Longstaff/Radley)
Chair Report:
• Jerry distributed the calendar for 2020 meetings, and noted that we need to confirm the
date for Walk Back in Time with Dale since we may have a conflict with the teachers'
picnic date.
• Jerry reported that Honorary Board member Betty Gaeng now has access to more
detailed and complete historical information and will continue to contribute her articles
as well as bios for our Walk Back in Time selections.
• Jerry reported that have received an application from a prospective board member who
will attend our February meeting.
Staff Report:
• Sexton's report for December and January was reviewed.
• Staff has been very busy with recent snowfall, but everything went very well.
• We have received a $29,000 grant from the Department of Archeological and Historic
Preservation and possible projects were discussed, including a security system.
• The Pontem mapping project work continues, with a hopeful completion date of year-
end.
• Our advertising in My Edmonds News is continuing, and we have advertised in the
Beacon a couple times. We continue to explore other opportunities.

In January we had 3 grave sales and 3 burials.
Old Business:
• Memorial Day planning is underway. The first meeting was held January 6 at Sound
Credit Union. The Gold Star families will be honored at the afternoon program at
Veterans Plaza. Even so, we anticipate increased attendance this year. Our next
planning meeting will be February 3 at 3 PM.
• The theme for Walk Back in Time this year will again be teachers.
• We have had positive feedback from the customer satisfaction surveys.
• Joan complimented Jerry on well -run meetings.
New Business:
• Vivian Olson introduced us to the concept of human composting, through the
organization Recompose. We discussed what, if any, options might be available to the
cemetery in the future.
