Chair Report:
Jerry mentioned the May article in the Seattle Times with Edmonds Cemetery's
Sexton Cliff Edwards on the front page. It highlighted what local area cemeteries
were doing for Memorial Day observances during the Covid-19 crisis.
Jerry will contact new prospective board member Ashley Robinson to see if she is
still interested in becoming a board member and where we left off with her
approval by the Mayor and City Council back in March.
Staff Report:
• Rich Lindsay reports that the cemetery is running smoothly during the Covid
shutdown, the Parks Dept. staff have been helping Cliff with cemetery
maintenance. Rich was able to hire a seasonal employee for the cemetery starting
July 1st, Kyle Holyfield.
• No Sales and Burial Report this month, with no seasonal helpers this summer, Cliff
has been extra busy out on the cemetery grounds. Will have a report for the July
meeting compiled.
New Parks and Rec. director, Angie Fisher, is now in place. Rich is highly
complimentary of her skills and ability to hit the ground running during the Covid
shutdown.
For now we will continue to hold our Board meetings via Zoom until Mayor
Nelson deems it safe to meet in person again.

Old Business:
Discussed renewing our Beacon Ad; we have an advertising budget of $3,200.00
for 2020. Joan will contact Jim Pompeo at the Beacon to inquire about pricing for
an ongoing ad for the year.
Jerry reminded the Board that we need to take the online certification for Open
Public Meeting Act. He will ask Carrie Haslam to resend the link to Board
Members.
WBinT planning will continue, it was agreed that the format will be different this
year because of Covid; we will not be meeting in person at the cemetery to avoid a
large gathering of people. We will instead post an article to MEN and the Edmonds
Beacon with this year's theme, `Recognizing Educators'. Betty Gaeng will write the
articles and Tracy Little will be the point person for organizing the content with
photos. Other ideas will be explored as well to bring the information virtually to
the community. The Educators being recognized this year are, Steven and Jennifer
Miller, Gordon Smith, David Ault and Louise Baker. Dale Hoggins will contact the
Retired Teachers Organization and let them know the plans.
New Business:
• Dale would like the Board to look at the Cemetery Comprehensive Plan at the July
meeting to see if we are meeting our goals with growth etc. Does it need to be
revised?
• Jerry would like to invite our new Parks and Rec. Director to our July meeting.
• The July meeting will be via Zoom.
