RESOLUTION NO. 987
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING APPLICATION
FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE TO THE SNOHOMISH
COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
CONSORTIUM IN ORDER TO INSTALL IMPROVEMENTS
TO ENHANCE ADA ACCESSIBILITY ON CERTAIN CITY
PLAYGROUNDS, PARKS AND PLAYFIELDS.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds has approved a
Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan for its City which provides for the long -term
maintenance and improvement of its park properties, and
WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds wishes to make every effort to make its
facilities accessible to all of its citizens, and
WHEREAS, funding is available through the Snohomish County CDBG
Consortium to permit improvement of certain walkways, pathways, and other surfaces within
Mathay Ballinger Park, Yost Park, Maplewood Park, Hummingbird Hill Park and Pine Street
Playfield, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds considered it to be in the
public's interest to seek funding in order to expand access to its various park facilities to all of
the citizens of Edmonds, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. The Mayor, through designated staff, is hereby authorized to make
formal application to the Snohomish County Community Development Block Grant Consortium
for funding assistance.
Section 2. The funding assistance so received shall be used to install
improvements in order to improve ADA accessibility at Mathay Ballinger Park, Yost Park,
Maplewood Park, Hummingbird Hill Park and Pine Street Playfield.
Section 3. The City's share of the project shall be derived from such revenue
sources as are considered and appropriated in the 2001 and 2002 budgets.
Section 4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to provide a certified copy of this
resolution to be attached to the formal application.
Section 5. The appropriation and expenditure of funds shall be undertaken in
accordance with the requirements of the Community Development Block Grant Consortium.
