RESOLUTION NO. 480
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, REAFFIRMING
THE CITY COUNCIL'S SUPPORT FOR THE EDMONDS
BUSINESS COMMUNITY.
WHEREAS, recently an anonymous person or group of
persons has circulated a flier which calls for a boycott of
Edmonds' merchants because of the recent increases in the
City water rates, and
WHEREAS, these same individuals have engaged in
other actions to promote the boycott of Edmonds' merchants;
and
WHEREAS, the flier contains many inaccuracies con-
cerning the recent increases in the water rates, but more
importantly seeks to harm the Edmonds business community
which is not directly responsible for the increase in the
water rates, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has employed professional
consultants to review the City's utility rate structure and
to make recommendations concerning revisions thereto, and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to express its
continued support of the Edmonds' business community and to
condemn any boycott on account of increased water rates, now,
therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. The City Council of the City of Edmonds
reaffirms its continued support for Edmonds' merchants and
the Edmonds'I.business community and condemns any boycott on
account of any increase in the water rates.
Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to
transmit a certified copy of this resolution to the Edmonds
Chamber of Commerce and the South Snohomish County Chamber
of Commerce.
