Ordinance 29600006.90000 WSS /are 11/10/93 rev: 11/11/93 ORDINANCE NO. 2960 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, REAFFIRMING THE PRIOR, CONTINUING ANNUAL SALARY ORDINANCE WHICH ESTABLISHED THE SALARY RANGE FOR REPRESENTED AND NONREPRESENTED PERSONNEL, PROVIDING FOR A LIMITED AMENDMENT THEREFORE TO PROVIDE A LUMP SUM PAYMENT FOR 1993 WITH RESPECT TO NONREPRESENTED EMPLOYEES AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE. WHEREAS, state law requires the adoption of an annual salary ordinance in conjunction with the City's budget, and WHEREAS, due to continuing and ongoing negotiations with the collective bargaining unit's representative personnel, the City has not amended existing salary Ordinance 2860, rather incorporating it in the 1993 budget in a continuing fashion until such time as the outstanding collective bargaining issues are resolved, and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it to be in the public interest to make provisions for the City's nonrepresented employees by the payment of a one time lump sum payment as set forth herein as a limited amendment to the existing salary ordinance, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City's annual, continuing salary Ordinance 2884 enacted on June 16, 1992, shall remain in full force 68517.1 -1- and effect, except as amended by this ordinance. The City Council deems it to be in the public interest to grant a one time lump sum payment as provided below to the nonrepresented employees of the City in the following amount: Department Directors as defined in the annual salary ordinance Six Hundred and Forty Four Dollars ($644.00); and All other nonrepresented employees - Four Hundred and Fifty Six Dollars ($456.00). This lump sum amount shall be a one time only payment and shall not affect the base salaried compensation otherwise provided for each position by the City's salary ordinance. Such payment is made in consideration of the services to be performed by the nonrepresented employees during calendar year 1993 and in consideration of their continued employment with the City. These payments shall apply only to individuals employed on the effective date of this ordinance. Persons employed during calendar year 1993 shall receive a prorated portion of the defined payment based on the number of calendar days projected to year end, each such employee will be employed in 1993. All of the other salary and benefits established pursuant to the annual salary ordinance shall remain in full force and effect. Section 2. Effective Date. This ordinance, being an exercise of a power specifically delegated to the City legislative body, is not subject to referendum, and shall take effect five (5) days after passage and publication of an approved summary thereof consisting of the title. 60517.1 -2- APPROVED: • Wit- ��.
