Ordinance 29690006.130.004 WSS /are 12/22/93 ORDINANCE NO. 2969 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING AN INCREASED SALARY FOR THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE. WHEREAS, the City Council has established the position of Mayor of the City of Edmonds as a full time position of the City, and WHEREAS, the City Council reviews from time to time the Mayor's salary subject to the constraints established under the constitution of the State of Washington, and WHEREAS, the Mayor's salary was last reviewed in January 1991 at which time Ordinance No. 2815 established the current salary level of $53,271, and WHEREAS, the City Council having again reviewed the salary of Mayor, deems it appropriate to provide for 'an increase in the salary compensation through a cost of living increase equivalent to that provided to the other managers and directors of the City of Edmonds, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Effective January 1, 1994, the Office of Mayor of the City of Edmonds shall receive an annual salary of $54,869, an increase of three percent (30) over the prior salary pursuant to Ordinance 2815. As a salaried office, the Mayor is 63686.1 -1- solely responsible for establishing her own hours of work and accordingly the office is not subject to overtime or compensatory time benefits. The benefit levels for the office have previously been established and clarified by Ordinance Nos. 2753 and 2871. Section 2. The increase in benefits in salary shall be payable to the Mayor beginning with the pay period next following the effective date of this ordinance. The initial payment shall include a one time salary adjustment, in consideration of the continued provision of services to the City in order to annualize the salary for calendar year 1994, equal to the difference of the Mayor's previously approved salary and the new salary for the period between January 1, 1994 and the date this ordinance shall become effective. Section 3. This ordinance, being an exercise of a power specifically delegated to the City legislative body, is not subject to referendum, and shall take effect five (5) days after passage and publication of an approved summary thereof consisting of the title.
