January 26, 1943. <br />The in,regular.session with Mayor Fourtner presiding. The roll <br />call showed the.following Councilmen present, Chandler., Roscoe, W.-C. Damages .against the City of.Edmondichwas caused from the <br />breaking of.a cover of a water meter box., located in front of the Gateway <br />Cafe was referred to the City Attorney. Claim was filed by Abraham Bedier, <br />of Alderwood Manor. <br />A letter received from the Division of Municipal Corporations, was read.' <br />Chapter.115, Laws of 1941 provides in part as follows: "*****and each city <br />councilman paid for attending council, meetings in amount not exceed- <br />ing �.5.00 per meeting, and for not more than'two meetings per month, as the <br />city council may fix by ordinance.' An ordinance providing compensation <br />for city Councilmen under the above quoted statue must be passed before the <br />election"of any officers mentioned in the ordinance. We are of the opinion <br />that city councilmen who were elected subsequent to the passage of the budget <br />ordinance providing salaries for city councilmen, are entitled to those salaries <br />A letter from-R. M. Wade & Company on the purchase of a new pump and equip- <br />ment was referred to the water committee. <br />A report councilman Clausen from the State department of Health, <br />showed that the water from the'.well of the City of Edmonds to conform with <br />the standards for purity. <br />A motion was moved and seconded that the City give Pointer Williamette Co. <br />permission to close Yost Admiral Way from Dayton Street South to 10184.82.5 <br />to provide a road to take place of Yost Admiral way, subject to the approval <br />of our City Attorney. Motion Carried. <br />A motion was moved and seconded that Pointer Williamette Co. be permitted to <br />erect temporary.gates across Yost Admiral Way at the foot of Dayton street <br />and,1018+82.5. Motion carried. <br />A motion was moved and seconded that the City Attorney be instructed to draw <br />up an emergency Ordinance for the erection of an Observation Tower at the <br />Northeast corner of third and main streets at a'cos.t of �350 for labor and <br />material, and to provide for maintenance for this year. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Pointer of Pointer Williamette Co. offered his equipment to help move <br />the tower now located atothe Ferry Dock so the post may be but3^in operation <br />until the new post is erected. He also offered some lumber and windows for <br />the erection of the new tower. <br />Dewey Leyda also volunterred to do the eiedtgic wiring for the new obser- <br />vation post. <br />There being no further business ohemotion the meeting adjouned. <br />, � 4, a, - / <br />Assis ant City 'lerk <br />Mayor. <br />February 2, 1943. <br />The Council met in regular.session with Mayor blourtner presiding.
