1945-07-17 City Council MinutesJuly 3, 1945 The Council met in regular session with Mayor 2ourtner presiding. The roll call showed the following councilmen present Chandler, McDonell, McGibbon, Hansen and Clausen. The minutes of the previous meeting wore reau and approved. The Treas- urers report was read. This report shows the water , to be heavily contaminated and absolutely unsafe for swimming. The petition was read for Blacktop work on Pirst Avenue Uorth from Edmonds. Street north to the end of the curbing., approximately 1000 feet. The Clerk was instructed 'to write to the Great Forthern railway Company in regards to paying one-half of the expense of the material, approx- inately $310, The City to pay the expense of laying the material. n motion was made by Clausen and seconded by Hansen thafthe Water super- intendent be authorized to buy 800.feet, more or less of 2 inch pipe and fittings, to be installed from the new well to the water tank. Motion carried. A motion was made by Clausen and seconded by Hansen that the City hire an inspector on the ninth street sewer job, retroactive to June 291h. motion carried. A motion was maderby =Gibbonlnd .secon.ded by McDonell that the bill of Ray Mcleever for labor he allowedT also the bill for E1bArt.GirTmIxler`ofor $249.51 for labor and material he allowed, subject to the approval of the third party on the finance committeex A vote of the council showed Chandler .yes, McDonell yes, McGibbon yes, Jones no, Clausen no and Hansen yes. A motion; was made by Jones and seconded, by McDonell that the Clerk notify Mr Weber that he must remove Al obstruction to passage on the sidewalk and the State property over which the City has jurisdiction. Motion carried. A motion was made by Chandler and seconded by McGibbon that the water restriction be lifted until further notice of the water superintendent. Motion carried.
