1947-09-02 City Council Minutes1 1 There being no further business the meeting adjourned. C y Clerk Mayor September 2, 1947 The Council met in regular session with Mayor Fourtner presiding. The roll call showed all councilmen present. The water collectors report was read. A motion was made by Councilman McGibbon and seconded by Councilman Tucker that the bill form the Stateside Construction Co., be tabled until the next Council meeting. Motion carried. A motion was made by Councilman McGibbon and seconded by Councilman Tucker that the bills which were approved by the finance committee be allowed and warrants drawn on the proper funds. Motion carried. read A letter was^from two property owners on First Avenue North, in which they state a condition of water drainage on their property in the winter time, and whould like to have something.done to prevent this condition. A motion was made by Councilman McGinness and seconded by Councilman Tucker that this be referred to the Street Committee. Motion carried. The Hearing on the Sewer for Sixth Avenue North, and the alley in Block 99, was set for this meeting. There being no one protesting against this im- provement the attorney was instructed to draw up.the Ordinance. A motion was made by Councilman Tucker and seconded by Councilman McGibbon that this Ord* be passed and published. A roll call vote showed McGibbon yes, Waggoner yes, Tucker yes, McGinness yes, Siefert no, Clausen no, and Maxwell no. The Council proceeded to make up the preliminary Budget for the coming -year. Councilman McGibbon made a motion that the existing full time salaries.be the same as last year. A roll call vote showed McGibbon yes,. Waggoner no, tucker no, Siefert yes, McGinness yes, Clausen yes and Maxwell no. Because considerable time bwmng spent on the budget and it hot being com- pleted, the Council adjourned until Wednesday evening. September 3, 1947. The Mayor, Clerk and Councilmen Clausen,.Megibbon and Maxwell met to complete the budget. After its completion their being no further business the meeting adjourned. lip Mayor September 16, 1947 , The Council met in regular session with Mayor Fourtner presiding. The roll call shoved all councilmen present. The Treasurers report was read. A motion was made by Councilman Siefert that we hold up the payment on eonteact to the Stateside Construction co. until the joint of 6 inch pipe in replaced with an eightiinch joint of pipe. A. motion was made by Councilman Tucker that partial payment be made to the contractor on the contract.' A roll call vote showed all councilmen voting yes except.councilman Maxwell who voted no. A letter was read from P.4rs. Schroeder in which she states her property has been damaged by water running down on her property. A motion was made by Councilman McGibbon and seconded by.councilman Tucker that this be. referred to the City Engineer. Letters were read from the Lion's Club and the Chamber of Commerce in which they state that they are very much in favor of program as.outlined by Coun- cilman Waggoner and budgeted for 1948. A letter was read from the Water Supt,.; Ray McKeever, the need for a new water tank and more water for next year, th2t this should be started on immediately. A notion was made by Councilman McGinness and seconded by Councilman Waggoner that the recommendation be accepted. Motion carried. A motion was made by Councilman Tucker and seconded by Councilman McGinness that the Health Officer inspect the property of the three people who were connected to the disbanded water main in regard to sewerage disposal and report to the Council in regards to this. Motion carried.
