'Motion carried. <br />A motion was.made by councilman McGibbon and seconded by Waggoner that Ord- <br />inance no. 579 be adopted. Motion carried. <br />A letter was read from L. C. Weedin in which he claims damage done to his <br />automobile on fifth & Bell Street. The attorney advised the council that <br />this was not a legal claim. <br />A motion was. made by councilman., McGibbon and seconded by councilman McGinness <br />that the clerk write the Association of Washington for information on the. <br />Employes Retirement fund. Motion carried. <br />ThIZ7,,further business the meeting adjourned. e. <br />City perk i ayor <br />February 3, 1948 <br />The Council met in regular session with Mayor rourtner presiding. The roll <br />call showed all councilmen present. The Viater Collectors report was read. <br />A motion was made by Councilman McGibbon and seconded by Councilman Maxwell <br />that the bills which were approved by the finance committee be allowed and <br />warrants be drawn on the proper funds.- Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Clausen <br />that the claim of Horton Brackett for $35-for damage done to his property <br />by the Contractor Scarsella be'paid and held out of the balance due the <br />contractor. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell <br />that the hearing for assessment roll # 61 be set for March 2. Motion carried <br />A letter was read from Fcancis Anderson, secreUry of the Library Board in <br />which they ask that the roof of the library Bldg. be repaired and that the <br />cost be taken from the general fund. A motion was made by councilman Tucker <br />and seconded by councilman Clausen that this repair be made and $aOO be <br />Its'ed.from the general fund to pay for same. Motion carried. <br />A letter was read from Attorney Hunter in regards to the using of money on <br />the Maple street Sewer.. He stated he vias.od the opinion that it is illegal <br />t.o t..raneXer the balance of the money from the Dayton Street sewer outfall <br />to the Maple street sewer, because when the district was set up, the property <br />owners were to assume the full cost of the project. Mr. Hunter suggested <br />that the State Development Board -be contacted and find out if the balance <br />in that fund can be used on some other project. A. motion -was made by Council- <br />man McGibbon and seconded by councilman Siefert that the attorney's report <br />be accepted. Motion carried. A motion was madd by councilman Maxwell and <br />seconded by councilman Tucker that the attorney contact the State Develop- <br />ment Board in regards to the balance of funds in the State Detelopment Fund. <br />Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman McGibbona end seconded by councilman Maxwell <br />that the date for the new hearing on assessment roll #60 be aet for March 16. <br />Motion carried. <br />Mr. Sether, State Land commissioner and two other men from his office were <br />at the meeting in a rds to the dock whibhewas built by Pointer Williamette <br />during the war,. ated the dock would be a benefit to small boats as <br />a place. for moorage, but cost for maintenance would amount to around $5000. <br />Councilman McGibbon, chairman of the park board stated their estimate was <br />$3000 to make it safe for heavy vehicles. Mr., Sethereremarked it was up to <br />the council to decide what they wanted to do. Councilman Waggoner made a <br />motion that the Attorney.draw up an application for a lease of the State <br />Park area and extended water -ways, Councilman Tucker seconded the motion. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Maxwell that this be referred back to the <br />park department for Further investigation as to the cost of repairs and <br />m§intenence.
