The problem of water running down the alley on Mrs. �ieeton's property was <br />referred'to the street supt. and committee. <br />The Street Supt'. reported that people were throwing rubbish in the gutter <br />Mayor Pourtner asked that this be reported to the police Lepartment. <br />A motion was made by councilman Waggoner and seconded•by councilman McGibbon <br />that lairs. Patterson be notified that she must clean up her sidewalk on ° <br />Third Avenue luorth by June 30 or the city will doso and a bill will 'be <br />sent to her for the work. Motion carried. <br />councilman mcGibbon reported that pater & z�idenotir would. turnish the city <br />with gasoline at.a redudtinn of 5 cents a gallon or 1 cent'off the waggon <br />price. - <br />The water bill for the Legion house and building was referred to the water <br />committee by a motion made by co-.ncilman McGibbon and seconded by coun,cilmarn <br />Maxwell. Motion carried. <br />re <br />The routing of the buses from Maple street becausejof the dust was referred <br />to The-routing <br />street committee by amotion made by councilman Tucker and seconded <br />by councilman Waggoner. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Clausen reported that an excess amount of dirt was left on. -Maple <br />Maple street from the installing'of the sewer. <br />A'motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell <br />that the grading of the alley in back of the Sail Inn Tavern be referred <br />to the street committee. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned. <br />iy er mayor <br />June 15, 1948 <br />The Council met in regular session with Mayor Fourtner presiding. The roll <br />call showed the following councilmen present McGibbon, Tucker, McGinness <br />Siefert, Clausen and Maxwell. The Treasurers report w4s read. A motion <br />was made by councilman MoGibbons and seconded'by,councilman McGinness <br />that the bill of Geogge Temple for $96.80 for labor on the water 'be paid <br />Motion carried.. <br />Two bids were received for water pipe. One from Marckmann &101illiams <br />on foar inch 12 gauge Steel pipe dipped and wrapped with fibre glass cloth <br />with one dressler coupling at a price of $80.70 per hundred feet, and <br />two inch pipe of extruded aluminum pipe at a price of 943.10 per hundred <br />feet. Bid nol two from Johns -Manville for four inch transite pressure <br />pipe including one transite simplex coupling and two rubber rings, <br />class 150 at a price of 88cents a lineal foot, sh.ipment.can be made 'Jan- <br />uary 1949. The bids on this pipe were turned over to the water committee <br />for condideration. Motion carried) <br />A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman <br />Maxwell that Mr. Blake be hired to mow the grass on the streets. Motion <br />carried. <br />Councilman McGinness reported that a new mower would cost g370 also that <br />a new motor for the grader Would cost 4950. <br />Mr. Sater asked to have Sixth Avenue from Main to daytoh street closed <br />ffuly 3, 4, and 5th, during the July celebration. A motion was made by <br />councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman McGinness that this be <br />authorized and the proper baracades be put up, and that the police dept. <br />pe-lice the alley to allow vehicles to travel. Motion carried. <br />Because of the Mayor and Clerk not signing the notice of lease terminat- <br />ion of the Ferry Dock a motion was made by councilman McGinness and <br />seconded by councilman McGibbon that a ipw notice be drawn up and the <br />expiration date be made July 31 insteaW-of dune 30, this document to be <br />delivered to the Ferry Co, with aletter inviting them to negioate a new <br />contract, also that $200 is due for the first six months rental, signed <br />by the Attorney. Motion carried. <br />A petition was read to the cou cl from property owners between Fourth <br />and Fifth Avenues in which theVy r a catch basin to be installed in the <br />J alley, to prevent drainage wate"r running down,the alley onto their prop- <br />erty.
