Attorney Hunter read the inew lease to the council which was drawn up <br />for the lease of the Ferry Dock for a period of five years from Jan. 1 <br />1948 to December 31, 1953, with the rental of $400 a year. A motion was <br />made -by .councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell that <br />Y- this be taken up at a special meeting July 13 at 7:30. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by eouncilman'Tucker and seconded by councilman McGibbon <br />that the bill . of Dr. Zretzler for $5 be paid. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Womer was given permission to created a parking space behind the City <br />building. Street Supt. Shirley is to haul,the trash away. <br />The prospects of space for a testing station was referred to the Park Com- <br />mittee by,a motion made oy eourciiman McGinness and seconded by council- <br />man Siefert. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Wag- <br />goner that the State Patrol be commended on their co-operation during the <br />fourth of July celebration. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned. <br />July 13, 1948 <br />The council met for,the adjourned meeting with Mayor Fourtner presiding, <br />with the following councilmen present, McGibbon, Tucker, Siefert, Clausen <br />and Maxwell. <br />A -motion was made 'by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Siefert <br />that the Lions Club be permitted to condudt their Pioneer Celebration for <br />one week. Motion carried. <br />After, comparing the old leases of the Perry Dock and some discussion on <br />same a motionewas made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman <br />Clausen that 30 days be inserted in the contract instead of 90 days for <br />the time allowed for the termination of ferry service. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman McGibbons and seconded by councilman Tucker <br />that the lease be for two years with the option for nenewal for two years. <br />Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by c oiltn`OF�Auncer and seconded by councilman Maxwell <br />that the ferry service, � trips daily be inserted in the lease. <br />Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell <br />that the lease agreement be as amended. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made 'by councilman McGibbon and seconded by councilman usaCwell <br />that the street ,Supt. be authorized to purchase ready mix -concrete and <br />'Lo employ one extra man Go puti in the two catch -basins on maple street. <br />Motion carried. <br />the water committee redommende'd accepting the -bid from Laarckmann cc ''Williams <br />for 2200 feet of steel pipe and the withdrawal of the franchise beyond <br />our water line because of not being able to purchase pipe. b motion was <br />mace by councilman-'ueker and seconded by councilman ulausen that the State <br />be notified of our withdrawal' from the franchise to lay water pipe south <br />of the bouth Oity limits, beyond our present line. action carried. . <br />A motion was made by councilman fucker and seconded by councilman ulausen <br />that the bid of iiarokmann oc Williams be accepted. lulotion carried. <br />x motion was.made by councilman ruoker and seconded by councilman Ola.usen <br />that we accept the contract from the union Oil Co., for the purchase of <br />gas for the city equipment. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned. <br />Mayor <br />July 20, 1948 <br />The Council met in regular session with Mayor Fourtner presiding. The roll <br />call showed all councilmen present except councilman McGibbon. <br />Attorney Hunter read a letter from the ferry Co., in which they state they <br />are willing to accept the two year leasewith the option for renewal ---for two <br />years, but would like the 30 day termination changed to 90 days. A motion <br />was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Clausen that we <br />accept the 90 day agreement. A,roll'call vote showed Tucker yes, Waggoner <br />yes, Siefert no, McGinness no,•Clausen yes and Maxwell no, there being a <br />vote of.;three yes -and three no Mayor Fourtner voted yes. <br />
