Councilman Maxwell asked to have the black -top repaired on Ninth &venue <br />South. <br />The street Supt. was authorized to add more gravel to the.street at the <br />foot of Bell street upon a complaint made by Mr. Thayer. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned. <br />y Glekk Mayor <br />January 4, 1949 <br />The_ Counoil met in. regular session with Mayor rourtner presiding. The -roll <br />call showed all councilmen present. <br />The water collectors report was read.'. A'motion was made by councilman <br />McGinness and seconded by oouncilman .Clausen that. the bills which were <br />approved by the,Auditing allowed and warrants be drawn on <br />the proper funds. Motion carried. <br />A letter was read to'the Council in'regards to', the motor for the booster <br />pump in. South. Edmonds, which was burned .,out. 'A"motion was made by. c.oundll- <br />man Maxwell and seconded by councilman Waggoner that this be referred to <br />the grater committee. . Motion carried. <br />The Clerk reported she had received the approval from the state Finance. <br />`Committee for th using of the balance of money from the Dayton street <br />sewer outfalla State automobile Testing Station. <br />No bids have been received for the testing station or for Bounds for a <br />garbage dump. <br />Mayor Fourtner expressed his thanks to the people for their co-operation <br />during his term of office. <br />Paul McGibbon was sworn in to the office of Mayor by attorney Holte. <br />Mayor McGibbon sworn in Mrs Anita_Busoh for City Clerk, Ernie Vollin for <br />Councilman at large, T. M. Tucker, councilman First ward, Audrey Engels <br />councilman second Ward, and Claude Savage as councilman Third ward. <br />Mayor McGibbon made following appointments, Street, light & sewer <br />committee, MoGinness, Chairman, Savage and Maxwell. Water committee <br />Tucker, chairman, Engels and Waggoner. Safety committee, Maxwell, <br />chairman, Engels, & Vollan, Chief of Police & fire Chief. Park Committee <br />Cleve Little, chairman, Max Meyring and Waggoner. Auditing committee, <br />Vollan, Tucker and Waggoner. Finance committee, Mayor McGibbon, Womer, <br />McGinness, Maxwell, Vollan and Busch. Appointments for Police Judge <br />Ray H. Doty and Water collector, Anita Busch. <br />Councilman Maxwell recommended James Astell for the Vire Chief. mayor <br />McGibbon appointed Astell for Pire Chief. L vote bf thanks was extended <br />to mat Engels for his faithful service to the City of Edmonds. <br />An application for a liquor license for the Polar Bear uud:ara Class H . <br />was turned over to the attorney for investigation and referred to the ,8'afety <br />committee, and the clerk was asked to notify the Liquor Board for thirty <br />days to make the investigation, by a motion made by councilman Tucker and <br />seconded, by councilman McGinness. Motion carried. <br />A letter was read from Union Oil Co., in which they ask for the extending <br />of the four inch water main south of our present water main along Yost <br />Admiral Way. This was referred to the water committee by a motion made <br />by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Waggoner. Motion <br />carried. <br />Attorney Holte reported it would cost approximately $200 to get title report <br />Ir���� for the Stroeta ad-dbining the North & south city limits. A <br />mo on'was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Waggoner <br />that the street committee find out all they possible can in regards to <br />this. Motion carried. <br />A motion was mc:de by councilman Waggoner and seconded by councilman <br />McGinness that the Mayor appoint a committee for the preparing of a <br />building and fire code and to be reported on at the January 18 meeting. <br />Motion carried. Mayor McGibbon appointed Fire Chief, Vollan and Waggoner. <br />Mr. Lawson came before the council in regards to a water line along Daley <br />street from seventh to Eight street and to have the street put to grade. <br />A motion.was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Tucker <br />that these be referred to the street and water committee for future devel <br />opment. Motionearried. <br />
