1 <br />1 <br />l <br />February 1, 1949 <br />The Council met in regular session with Mayor McGibbon presiding. The roll call showed <br />the following councilmen present Vollan, Waggoner, Tucker, McGinness, Engels, Maxwell <br />and Savage. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Waggoner that the bills <br />which were approved by the auditing committee be allowed and warrants be drawn on the <br />proper funds. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman McGinness that the bill of Ilax Meyring for $402.50 for <br />Engineering work for street profiles on Daley, Sprague and Edmonds street., be allowed <br />and.$25 be paid to establish the grade. <br />A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tucker that the Clerk <br />be given authority to purchase a typewriter. Motion carried. <br />Permission was given to cut the storage spacd in the City Hall in order to make a plat- <br />form t6eX 14 feet, which was recommended by the administrative committee, for the Policec <br />Court, by a motion made by oouncilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Vollan. Motion <br />carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Tucker that Mr. Womer <br />Fill the office of Asst. City Clerk at a salary of $5.00 a year which was budgeted„ he is to <br />relieve the City Clerk at lunch time, and v*cation -and in case of sickness, and the'Clerk <br />to relieve the Asst. Clerk. The office is to remain open at noon, with hours from 9 until 5 <br />P. M. also Saturdays when watercollections are due. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Maxwell showed a cross walk sign to the Council. He stated the cost was $75 <br />and there were three 300 light bulbs in it. A motion was made by Councilman Tucker <br />and seconded by Councilman Waggoner that this be referred to the Safety Committee.'if we <br />need it and where. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman McGinness and' seconded by councilman Tucker that Ma x <br />Meyring establish the grades on Daley, Sprague and bdmonds streets from 7th to 9th <br />at a cost of $25. Motion carried. <br />Councilman McGinness recommended a resolution be drawn up in regards to the height <br />of telegraph and telephone and guy wires. Councilman mcGinness withdrew his motion, <br />and it was tabled. <br />As the garbage dump is closed some dirt is needed to cover it. A motion was made by <br />Councilman Maxwell and seconded by Councilman McGinness that the Mayor take steps to <br />cover the garbage dump. Moti©n carried. <br />Councilman Engels reported the county Commissioners are willing to co-operated with <br />us in obtaining a new garbage site. Councilman McGinness reported that the city <br />should cohtract for gabbage disposal, and charge all residents in the city a rate <br />for this service. ' <br />Councilman Waggoner Chairman of the Building & Zoning Committee reported on parts of <br />building and zoning codes and the boundaries of the proposed fire zone, which applies <br />to third class cities. The committee was requested to keep on with this report by a <br />motion made by councilman.McGinness and seconded by councilman Tucker. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman McGinness and -seconded by councilman Tucker that the <br />Clerk write the Secretary of the Municipal Fund Legislative Committee that the Council <br />is in favor of,the House Bill No. 119 relating to loans to municipalities. <br />Motion carried. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned. <br />City Clerk Mayor <br />February 15, 1949 <br />The Council met in regular session with Mayor McGibbon presiding the Roll call showed <br />the following Councilmen present, Councilman Vollan, Waggoner, Tucker, McGinness, Enge ls, <br />Maxwell, and Savage. <br />The Treasurers Report was read, .A letter was read from Mrs. Walter J. Peterson in regards <br />to a larger water line in S outh Edmonds, this:was referred to the water committee. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Waggoner and seconded by Councilman Tucker that the Mayor <br />be authorized to take any action in regards to legislative matters. Motion carried. , <br />A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Tucker that all <br />Black -top streets, except Ninth Ave. South be completely baracaded during the thaw, to <br />all vehicles. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Tucker reported that the Union Oil Co., did not intend using any more water <br />
