April 18, 1950 <br />The Council met for the regular session with Mayor McGibbon presiding. The roll call <br />showed the following councilmen present Vollan, Tucker, McGinness Maxwell and Savage. <br />This mas the night set for the heating on the annexation of the Yost First Addition <br />D� to the City of Edmonds. The Attorney stated he had checked the signatures for the <br />�- annexation of the property, which showed more than 75% of the assessed valuation had <br />been signed for,also the legal notices had been published and posted. A motion was <br />made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Savage that this annexation be <br />accepted and Ordinance No. 600 be published. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the <br />petition for the annexation of the Kellog Plat be checked by the attorney, and the . <br />hearing be set for May 2, and the legal publication be made. Motion carried. <br />Five bids were received for the purchase of pipe.. The bid from H. D. Fowler Co., <br />was for Century Asbestos cement pipe, the 6inch pipe including one coupling for <br />$1.25 per foot, the 8 inch for 1.82 per foot. The bid from Hugh G. Purcell for 6 inch <br />pipe, f.o.b. Edmonds on the job or stock $1.375, f.o.b..cars Edmonds 1..364, f.o.b. <br />dock Seattle, 1.327. The eight inch pipe delivery to Edmonds by truck to job or stock <br />pile, $2.008, f.o.b. cars Edmonds 1.991. f.o.b. Dock Seattle, 1935• Delivery to be made <br />45 to 60 days. Pacific Water Works Supply Co., 6 inch pipe 1.31 f.o. b. dock Seattle, <br />1.35 f.o.b. cars, Edmonds, and 1.36 f.o. b. stockpile or trench site edmonds. Eight <br />inch pipe 1.92 f.o.b. dock Seattle. 1.975 f.o.b. cars, Edmonds, 1.995 f.o.b. stockpile of <br />trenchsite, Edmonds. American Cast Iron Pipe,. 8 inch pipe test -coated fob stock pipe <br />edmonds 2.01, fob dock Seattle, 1.93; 6 inch stock pipe Edmonds 1.378, fob dock <br />Seattle 1325 delivery in approx. 70 days. The bid from Pacific States Iron Pipe <br />8 inch pipecement lineddfob cars,Seattle or Edmonds 1.94, 6 inch 1.33, fob stock pipe <br />Edmonds 8 inch 1.98 and 6 inch 136. shipment to be made in a week or ten days. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that we <br />accept the bid from Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe cc, with the option of type of <br />delivery. Motion carried. <br />A motion was mdde by councilman Maxwell and sscinded by councilman Savage that vie accept <br />the revised plat of Homeland Drive for a 35 foot street with a fiue foot sidewalk on one <br />side, the City to maintain the sewer and water. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Vollan and seconded by councilman7f*W that the American <br />Legion be given permission to use the City Park for the Fourth of July celebration and <br />the booth be redecorated. Motion carried. <br />Appraisals were read for the two pieces of property $850 for the Willaims property and <br />$966 for the Pakkala property plus the sewer assessment. A motion was made by councilman <br />Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tucker that the Hedges property be notified by our <br />Attorney that condemnation proceedings are tobe started for a 60 foot right of way. <br />Motion carried. <br />The opening of Second street from Edmonds to the Hedges property was referred to the <br />Street committee for re -survey. <br />A motion was made by councilman Savage and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the <br />purchase of the William and Pakkala property be paid from the street fund out of <br />money budgeted for new con struction. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman McGinness that we accept <br />the new well of 300 gallons per minute and Tyr. Jannsen is to drill another well, subject to <br />the approval of the State -Health department, he is to be given an extension of time of 120 <br />days. Mr. Jannsen to be paid 5100 as a compromise and the contract is to be re written. <br />Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the water <br />department make the construction of the eight inch line as outlined by the water committee' <br />Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tucker that we purchase the Yost 40 acres for park purposes <br />and we pay $1000 down on it. No second <br />A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tucker that we ask the <br />Yost Estate for a 30 day extension of time. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Savage that Ordinance <br />No. 600 be adopted and published; for the annexation of Yost's First Addition to the City <br />of Edmonds.
