A motion was made by councilman Savage and seconded uy councilman Vollan that Mr. <br />Jannsen be paid $5000 for the drilling of the first well. hloti.oncarried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Waggoner that the <br />General Engineering Co., be paid $500 on account and the payment of $40 be paid to <br />Northwest Laboratories for analysis of thw Water. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Savage that we purchase <br />the Yost 40 acres and $1000 down be paid from the Park Fund. A roll call vote showed <br />Tucker yes, Waggoner no, Vollan no, McGinness no, Maxwell no and Savage no. <br />A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the <br />Engineering Meyring be instructed to establish the grade on I wl�owv&c�R#gthl�from Howell <br />at a cost of $65. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman M el an seconded by councilman Waggoner that Mr. <br />Jurgensen if notified that he canno%" e 72 foot alley joining his property. An <br />amendment to the motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Savage <br />that he is to show cause of why the restriction. A vote on the amendment showed it did <br />not carry. A vote on the motion showed they were ig favor of it. <br />Therebeing no further business the meeting adjourned. <br />City Clerk Mayor <br />April 19, 1950 <br />Memo drawn up by Mayor McGibbon: The following agreement (tentative) has been reached <br />between Paul McGibbon and N. C. Jannsen, regarding drilling at Edmonds. 65000,payment <br />to be made by City of Edmonds to.Mr. Jannsen, upon acceptance of 300 gallon well by <br />City of Edmonds. Acceptance.of well must be secured by written approval of State <br />Health Department, also by certified flow statembnt from Mr. George Hammond. <br />Further, Mr. Jannsen a°grees to start drilling on same property for second well, <br />in order to bring water availibility up to 500 gallon per minute. This drilling is to <br />start for a second gyducing well with' 15 da <br />As soon as poss e a new contract e weeri he .above parties is to be drawn, <br />which will, state the number of days allowed for fulfillment of minimum gallonage delivery. <br />This contract is to give the City of Edmonds every protection afforded by the original <br />contract, and will stipulate the method of completing payment to Mr. Jannsen, when total <br />of 500 gallon flow is secured. " , <br />It is understood that the second well will draw from a different level that the first <br />well, thereby protecting the supply of the firstwell. <br />It is further understood that the driller will be entitled to all payments stipulated <br />in the original contract, at such time as 500 gallon per minute of water is available. <br />This memo is a basis for mutual agreement on continuance of work, and is tentative <br />only until a new contract is written between the city of Edmonds and Mr. Jannsen. <br />Upon signing of this memo the City of Edmonds can go ahead and order materials needed, <br />and Mr. Jannsen can feel assured of the said city's good faith, as regards their <br />future relations. Signed N. C. Jannsen, driller,—P_aul McGipton., Mayor. <br />Mayor. <br />May.16, 1950 <br />The Council met for the regular, session with Mayor McGibbon presiding. The roll call <br />showed the following councilmen present Vollan, Tucker, McGinness, Engels, Maxwell <br />and Savage. <br />The Treasurers report was read. The State Examinerts report was read to the Council. <br />A motion was made by�councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Savage that vie purchase <br />the piece pf property 40feet by 132 feet from.mrs. Ingram for $105 for a right of way, <br />and the City is to pay for the title insurance on this property. Motion carried. <br />Five bids were received for two pumps. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded <br />by Councilman Maxwell that the bid from Cascade Machinery Co., be accepted at a cost of <br />960.70 for a Pomona deep well turbine pump with magnetic starter., and 651.18 for a <br />Fairbanks- Morse split case pump,plus sales tax making a total of $1660.24, with delivery <br />within two weeks. Motion carried. <br />Five bids were received for an areation tank. A motion was made by Councilman MCGi1r1zrea6 <br />and seconded by councilman Tucker that we'accept-the bid from Pointer Williamette Co., <br />for $927 including state sales Tax, with delivery within two weeks. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Tucker made a motion to raise the water rates for commercial users from 40 <br />rate to 5¢ inside the city limits and 6¢outside the city limits. After some discussion <br />Tucker withdrew his motion. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman McGinness that the <br />sprinkling rate be for 100 per hundred cubitfeet over the minimum charge for four <br />months, Motion carried. <br />A letter of resignation from Ross Waggoner was read to the Council. Several names were <br />suggested for new councilmen for the First and Third wards.
