1950-04-25 City Council Minutes,> April 25, 1950 The Council met for a special session with Mayor McGibbon presiding. The roll call -showed Councilman Waggoner, Tucker, Vollan and Maxwell present. The petition for the annexation of the Kellogg addition to Edmonds was presented for con- sideration. A motion was made by councilman Vollan and seconded by councilman Tucker that the Attorney be instructed to -check the petition for signatures and to publish a notice of hearing for the annexation May 2. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the Clerk call for bids on 2000 feet of eight inch cast iron pipe, cement lined, fob cars Edmonds. Bids to be opened May 2. Motion carried. Therebeing no further business the meeting adjou May 2, 1950 The Council met for the regular session with Mayor McGibbon presiding. The roll call showed the following councilmen present Tucker, Waggoner, Vollan McGinness, Maxwell and Savage. The water collectors report was read. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Savage that the bills which were approved by the Auditing com- mittee be allowed and warrants be drawn on the proper funds. Motion carried. Five bids werereceived on the eight inch cast Iron pipe. Pacifice States Cast Iron of $1.94 American Cast Iron Pipe Co., for 1.99 , Pacific Water Works Supply for 1.975, Hugh G. Purcell Co., 1.99, John Mansville 1.82 for Asbestos -cement pressure pipe. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that we accept the bids from Pacific States Cas.t.Iron Pipe Co., for $1.94 per for for 2000 feet of cast iron Pipe Class 150, thin cement lined, fob cars Edmonds. Shipment to be made from 7 to 10 days. Motion Carried. A petition protesting the annexation between 8th & 9th and between Cedar and Fir street was read to the Council. After some discussion a motion was made by councilmam Tucker that this piece of property be excluded from the annexation. There being no second to the motion a motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tucker that the petition submitted including all the property.be annexed to the City of Edmonds. Passed by a unaminous vote of the Council. Ordinance No.601 which was drawn up by the Attorney for this annexation was ordered Published. -� A l6tter was read from Claudd Savage in which he states because of his health condition he is resigning as Councilman of the Third ward effective June.l. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the P. U. D. be granted their request to break down the curb and gutter on Fourth Ave. So., according to the specifications on file and under the Supervision of the Street. Supt. Motion carried. A check for $919.55 and letter was r6cei.ved from Union Oil Co., for repairs of Third Avenue south, for the damage done to said street during the winter. They ask for a formal release on the liabilities for repair of the street. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Tucker that the check be returned to Union Oil Co., and ask that it be made out to the United Paving Co. and the check to be returned to the City. An amendement to the motion was made by Councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Savage that we ask for a certified check and that a realese be given upon receipt of the certified check. a vote showed the amemdmentrcarried. A vote on the motion showed it carried. Mr. Hammond mane a report to the council on the new well, he stated an aeration tabk will be necessary and we should call for bids on two pumps as per specifications drawn up. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that wecall for " bids for two pumps. bids to be opened May 16. Motion carried. A motion was made by council an Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that we call for bids for an aeration tank. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and sedonded ly councilman Maxwell that we approve the memo drawn up by the Mayor and N. C. Jannsen for the payment of $5000, for one well and he is to drill another well on this groperty. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Savage that the balance be paid Mr. Davison for the purchase of the property. Motion carried.
