Mayor McGibbon reported the Chamber of Commerce afe willing to co-operate with the city in getting our streets black -topped. There being/bfurther business a •meeting adjourned. , ;7 t1c� City Clerk Mayor 1,6'T March 4, 1952 The Council met for its regular session with the following councilmen present Holmquist, Tucker, 7uson, Engels, Vollan Maxwell and Miller present. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Miller to nominate Councilman Tucker as Mayor protem in the absence of Mayor McGibbon. The water collectors report was read. A•motion was made by councilman Maxwell'and seconded by councilman Miller that the bills which` were approved 1*ethe 'hudit:tng committee be allowed and warrants be drawn on the proper funds. Motion carried. A reguuest from Mr. D. R. Lynn asked for permission to use 25 feet on. the south side of Maple street to stake his lmmber while building his new home, he also stated he would keep lights out at night. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Vollan that Mr. Lynn be allowed to use the south 15 feet of Maple street in front of his property fora period of 60 days, under the direction of the police department, and he must furnish an indemity Bond for $10,000, Motion carried. A letter was read from Al Brandt inyhich he states he would like to purchase lots 3, 4, 5 and 6 in block 14 plat of the city of Edmonds, Mayor protem Tucker suggested this be held over until we get a deed from the County. Ff. As there were no objections to the assessments on L. I. D. No 65 A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tuson that Ord. N"o 617, confirming the assessement Roll for L. P. for $2358, the other bid from Edmonds Potor Co., in the amount of $ "2299.1.a1 with special equipment. r A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Miller that we accept the bid for the Chevrolet Delus four door sedan with special equipment subject to modification. A roll call vote showed Holmquist yes, Tuson yes, Engels no, Vollan • yes, Maxwell yes and Miller yes. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Vollan that the call for bids for laying of water pipe be changed from March 18 to April 1. Motion carried. Supt. Lawson reported He had complaints about the condition existing at the Schuster soap factory, and he had examined'the site and found it very unsanitary. A motion was made by councilman Vollan and seconded by councilman Miller that this be referred to the Health Officer. Motion carried. The roll call showed the following councilmen present Holmquist, Tucker, Engels, Vollan, Maxwell and Miller. A letter was read from the'Washington State Liquor Control Board in which they ask for a five minute parking Zone on Fourth Avenue just north of Main street between 12 noon and 8 P. M. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded b y council- -man Maxwell to refer this to the safety committee. Motion carried. the water department '¢-o The request from Mr. Wickstrom for�furnishimg pipe `for a water line was referred to the water committee. A letter was read from Warren A. Bishop asking for a Local Improvement District for a sewer in the Willis District, also a number of residents from this district were* present at this meeting.
