19520506 City Council MinutesThe Water Committee reported that Mrs. Lindsey had contacted them in regards to purchasing of her water sysloem. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tuson that .Mak Meyring establish the grade from 7th to 9th on Walnut street and furnish a map of same to the city and the cost not to exceed $75. Motion carried. There being no further business the meeting adjourned. City Clerk Mayor M*y 6, 1952 The council met for its regular session with Mayor McGibbon presiding. The roll call showed the following councilmen present Holmquist, Tucker, Tuson, Vollan and Maxwell. The Treasurers and water collector reports were read. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tuson that 'the bills which were approved by the auditing committee be allowed and warrants be drawn on the proper funds. Motion carried. ,A motion was made by.councilman Tucker and.seconded by councilman Holmquist that the bill of Davis & Ryland for the contract work for digging and laying of water main on Cedar, Eighth Avenue and Main & Olympic avenue be paid less the 15% to be withheld for 30 days as per contract. Motion carried. This was the night set for the hearing on rezoning of lots 9, 10, 11 & 12 in Block J and lots 21, 22, 23 & 24 in Block H, from a residential to a commercial zone. A motion was made by councilman Tucker that this application be tabled and find out what his intentions are. The motion received no second. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell.and seconded by councilman Vollan because of no objections to the rezoning,, that this property be rezoned to the commercial zone. Motion carried. Attorney Holte reported he has received a letter from. the Attorney General in regard to the action of the Council on the sale of the property to Al Brandt. He stated the action was in order, which approves the sale of property, lots 3, 42 5 and 6 in Block 14 less the Grdat Northern Right of way, plat of the City of Edmonds. A motion was made by Councilman Maxwell that the petitions for street improvement be turned over to the street committee for approval. Mr. Shorett came before the council with a petition with ll.signers for water.on 100 Avenue west. This was referredto the water committee. Mr. Gerdon ask to have water.furnished to his property North of our South Edmonds water tank. This was also r@Zerred to the Water committee for consideration. The condition of the alley between Main and Dayton streets just' east of Fifth Avenue was referred to the street committee. A motion was made by councilman Vollan and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the contractorfou the school building be required to obtain a building permit at the regular fee required for building. A motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the Supt. notify Dr. Jennings that the street committee is not in favor of opening up B street, but we will furnish,the grade information. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Holmquist that Edmonds go on daylight saving time. A vote showed that we stay:on Standard time. Therebeing n further bus ss the meeting adjourned. A City Clerk IWor May 20, 1952. The Council met`for its regular session with the following councilmen.present Tuson, Vollan, Engels, and Maxwell. Mayor McGibbon being absent Councilman Maxwell served as Mayor Pro=tem. ` The Treasurers report was read to the Council. A letter was read from W. V. Kingdon-and Rex Willis in regards to getting water on Bell street from tenth to Olypmic avenue. A check for $150 accompariyed Mr. Willis letter. This eras referred to the water committee for consideration. Mr. Gerdon again came before the council in regards to getting water on his property on Terrace Road, it was estimated it would take between 1100 and 1200 feet of pipe. This was referred to the water committee for a report at the next meeting.
