19520715 City Council MinutesJuly 15, 1952 The Council met for its regular session with Mayor McGibbod presiding. The roll call showed the following councilmen present Tucker, Tuson) Engels, Maxwell, Holmquist, and McGinness. - The Treasurers report was read to the Council - 'The comments of the report of the examination of the city records made by the State Examiner was read to the council. Apmotion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman McGinness that Ordinance No. 622 setting up L. I. D. #69 for the improvement of Alder Street from Sixth to Seventh Avenues be passed. Motion carried. A motion was madd by councilman McGinness*and seconded by councilman Holmquist that Ordinance $623 setting up L. I. D. #70 be passed. Motion carried. A motion was made by Councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tucker to call for bids for the grading and graveling of Eighth Avenue from Spruce to Pine stre et, bids to be opened August 5, Motion carried. A motion was made by Councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tuson that we call for bids on the street -work for L. I. D. 68, 69 and 70. Bids to be opened August 5. Motion carried. A letter was read form Pointer Williamette in regards to the conditions of the streets leading to their industry, this was referred to the street committee for consideration. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tucker that the attorney draw up an Ordinance setting up the reserve funds for the City. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Tucker, and seconded by councilman McGinness that the Clerk inquire as to the cost of the examination made of the City records. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilmah Holmquist that we go on record to offer any assistance to the Port Commissioners in regards to getting a Break Water in Edmonds. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Engels to extend the two inch main on Third avenue south 640 feet to the end of our water district, with a four inch main, and Mr. Steed agrees to pay $200 toward the cost plus $115 for one meter connection. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that we call for bids for laying of 360 feet of water pipe, west of Olympic Avenue on Bell street and approx. 640 feet on third Avenue south, bids to be opened August 5. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Engels that Max Meyring set the grade for the installation of pipe on Bell and Third Avenue South. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell that we employ another engineer for the sewer project. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Tuson that the Sewerage Disposal Company be notified not to dump on Suriday or Holidays. Motion carried. Motion carried. Three bids were received for the laying of water main on third avenue south, and Bell street between tenth avenue and Olympic, L. ,O..Franklin $1322.52, Joe Col:uccio, $868.00, 0. K. Ryland $731.09. A motion was made by Councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Tuson that Mr. Ryland be given the bid. Motion carried. No bids were received on L.,I. D. #66 for the improvement of Eighth Avenue from Spruce to Pine street.
