19520916 City Council MinutesA motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell to sell the West 12 feet of Lot 20 Block 41 less the south 5 feet and the West 12 feet of lot 21 Block 41 less the north 5 f6et, to Rex Willis for $50. Motion carried. Attorney Holte reported that the City could not form a Local Improvement District outside the City. . A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Tucker that the Supt. be authorized to have the work done on Eighth Avnnue from Spruce to Pine street not to exceed $1800. Motion carried. The Council proceeded to make up the Preliminary Budget for 1953. There being no further business the meeting adjourned-. City Clerk Mayor September 16, 1952 The Council met for its regular session with Mayor McGibbon presiding. The roll call showed the following councilmen present Tucker, Vollan, Engels, Maxwell and McGinness. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the change in salary as outlined by the Mayor, for the new Asst. water Supt. at the monthly pay of $300 and Claude Londerville be put on an hourly rate of $1.70 for meter reader and meter repair and service connections; Mr. Nissen is to take the place of John Shirly Ass't. Supt. at the monthly pay of $280 per month. Motion carried. 4 ' The water collector reported to the Council about the water meter for the Church of God. The meter registers in gallons instead of Cubic feet. After checking back from the time the meter was installed in 1950 to the present time it was found out they had been overcharged for water $240.05. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman McGinness that a refund be made to the Church of God. Motion carried. Mr. Hollingshead came before the council and asked for permission to paint parking lanes in the area around the High School Glen street from sixth to Seventh and Daley street from Mird to Seventh. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tucker that this permission be granted. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman McGinness andseconded by councilman maxwell that Mr. Butcher be permitted to build a carport at sixth and Daley street; to be built onefoot ten inches from the property line. Motion carried. Chief Rasmussen asked :�o have a curfdmvOrdinance drawn up and put in force. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that steps be taken to bring the 40 acres of property owned by the waterdepartment and the ad- joining property which avant to, into the city. .Motion carried. It was reported that the Brady Construction Co., would like to have Front Street from Junes to Dayton street vacated. Mayor McGibbon referred this to the street Committee. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by Councilman McGinness to authorize the Engineer to make a topographical survey and draw up a map showing the best location for a resouvoir, not to exceed $150. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Tucker -and seconded b y councilman Engels to trade a piece of property owned by the city for a piece of property owned by Mr. Abelson. The roll call showed the following councilmen present Tucker, Vollan, Maxwell, Holmquist and McGinness. After considerable time being spent in cutting the budget a motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman McGinness.to adjourn until Tuesday night. Motion carried.
