The water Collectors and Treasurers reports were read to the Council. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that <br />the bills which were approved by the auditing committee be allowed and warrants <br />be drawn on the proper funds. Motion carried. <br />The Clerk was authorized to pay 85% due the contradtor on L. I. D. #70 when a <br />letter has been turned in from the Engineer that the work has been done. <br />A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Vollan that <br />Mr. Womer be paid $97.90 for money due him for work on the Building Code. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Sommerseth came.before the Council and asked to have the alley between Daley <br />& Sprague streets in Block 64 vacated. A motion was made by councilman McGinness <br />and seconded by councilman Tucker that the Ordinance NoS/%vacating the alleys in <br />Block 42, 42 and 64 be recovded. Motion carried. <br />bars. MaoLean came before the Council and stated because of the street work being <br />done on Ninth Avenue she did not have access to her garage at ninth and Maple street. <br />A motion was made by couneililan McGinness and secondedby councilman Engels that the <br />Engineer be instructed to take what steps is necessary to prevent erosion. Motion carried. <br />A letter was read from Mr. Abelson and Mr. Hall in regards to exchange of property. <br />A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell that <br />we pay $1250 for Mr. Abelson -Is property. M tion and second was withdrawn. <br />A motion wasomade by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman McGinness for <br />a reconsideration on the exchange of property. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Vollan to trade <br />lots 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 in Block 37 plat of the City of Edmonds owned by Mr. <br />Abelson for a piece of property owned by the City of Edmonds, described as follows, <br />that portion of the west 830 feet of the south 310 feet of the SE 1 of the S E 1 Section 24 T 2.7 Range 3 East WM lying Northeasterly of the County road. A roll call <br />vote showed Tucker yes, Vollan yes, Engels yes, Maxwell no, Holmquist yes and McGinness yes. <br />A letter was read from Rex Willis asking to have a grade on Daley street between 9th <br />and 11 street. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman McGinness that <br />the esgineer establish the grade and a plan be submitted, at a cost not to exceed $50. <br />Motion carried. <br />A letterwasreadfrom Mrs. John Boshart in-nhich seh asks that the property adjoing hers <br />be cleaned up. This was referred to the code bommittee. <br />A motion was made by councilman Vollan and..seconded by councilman McGinnessffor the <br />adoption 6f Ordinance No. 626 for a special election forba bond issue for a new fire <br />truck in the amount of $11450. Llotion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell for the <br />water department to make plans to replace the pipe on Main street from 6th to 8th <br />avenues so the street eanbe surfaced. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Vollan to adopt <br />the budget Ordinance, No. 625. Motion carried. <br />Mayor McGibbon reported it would cost. about $1000 to have Dayton Street blicktopped <br />from Third avenue to the waterfYont. He also stated that Union Oil Co., would contribute <br />$550 toward materials and Pointer Williamette would contribute $250 toward the cost of <br />thew ork. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that <br />the city contribute, not to exceed $400. Motion carried. <br />The repair of Dayton street from Third avenue to Sixth avenue was referred to the street <br />i` committee by a motion made by councilman Tucker. <br />A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Tucker for the Mayor <br />to sign the corrected deed for Homeland Drive. Motion carried. <br />A letterwas readfrom A. S. Meyring asking that something be done in regards to the <br />noisy from the oil trucks going through on Third Avenue at night. <br />Therevbeing no further business t e meeting adjourned. <br />City Clerk Mayor <br />October 21, 1952 <br />The Council met for its regular session with Mayor McGibbon presiding.
