January 6, 1953 The Council met for its regular ses:3ion with Mayor McGibbon presiding, the roll call showed the following councilmen present Tucker, Tuson, Vollan, Engels, Maxwell, Holmquist and McGinness. The water collectors report was read to the Council. o, A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tuson that the bills which were approved by the auditing committee be allowed and warrants be drawn on the proper funds. Motion carried. j Two bids were received for 4000 feet of four inch pipe, one from American Cast Iron Pipe Co., for �1.13 f.o.b. car Edmonds and �1.09 f.o.b. stock pipe Edmonds, and a bid from Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe co., for .$1.07 per foot f.o.b. our stock pile.Edmonds, with delivery within three to four weeks. A.motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Vollan to accept the bid from Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe co. for $1.07 per foot. Motion carried. j I Two bids were received for fuel oil for the city hall' for the ensuing year, one from Edmonds Diesel Delivery for 112¢ per gallon and one from Sater 8 Ridenour for 111 A motion.was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Tuson for this bid to be awarded to Sater & Ridenour,. t&cdlt'err%U, thla business among the dealers. Motion carried. Two bids were received for gasoline, one from Shell Oil Co., with a bid of 23.5¢for Shell Premiun and 21.5 for the regular, the bid from Union Oil Co., is for 23.5¢'for j 7600 and 21¢ for the 76 gasoline. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and ! seconded by councilman Vollan that the bid be awarded to Union Oil Co., for 21.5¢ for the 76 gasoline. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Vollan that we call for bids on insurance for the city, with bids' to be opened January 20. Motion carried. A letter from Hughbanks Incorporated reads as follows; For approximately $35,000 legally issued 42% VJ.H.F warrants to be funded with 5% bonds issued by your Local Improvement District #67, we agree to pay you par flat for such warrants and premiun of 27¢ per each 1 $100 of bonds issued -in fundlHch warrants; the bonds will be due on or before twelve years from their date; said bonds are to be supported by the City's L. I. D. guarantyc Fund to the fullest extent provided by law (chapters 209 and 109,-laws of 1927 and 1933 respectively) -warrants and bonds to be in $500 denomiations as nearly as practicable; Assessment roll collections are to b4 enforced as provided in chapter 275 and chapteer 9 laws of 1927'and 1933 respectively. The above bid is made strictly subject to our being supplied with a certified copy of legal proceedings taken in the issuance of warrants and bonds for the approval of our attorneys, it being understood that such approval must be obtained before we are required to accept and pay for said securities at our expense. A motion was made by councilman `Dicker and seconded by councilman Maxwell to accept the proposal of Hughbanks Incorporated. Motion carried: Six bids were received and opened for the Fire truck, Nelson Equipment.co., bid $14,016.86, Cascade Fire Equipment Corp. $14,016.86, Feenaughty Machinery Co., 613,985, and alternate bid of 16,497, American LaFrance 11,931.50 and 19,596.00, Howard Cooper Corp. 11,978, 145840.00, 11,578.00 and 14,420.00, L. N. Curtis & Sons,yp13,421.00, 14,812.36, 17019.00 and 13,421.00. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Vollan that Ord. #1627 providing for the issuance and sale of general obligation bonds of the City in the amount of $11,450, for'part payment of a new fire truck, be passed and published. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by -councilman Tuson that Mr. Hall be permitted to use the city park road as long as it is in public use, subject to cans cellation. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell that February 3 be set for discussion fvrstreet improvements on Dayton, Maple, Nalnut, Sixth and seventh streets. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tucker that Resolution #14 employing counsel for certain services in connection with the issuance of general obligation bonds of the city be passed and published. Motion carried.
