19530120 City Council MinutesAfter hearing from the prospective bidders on the fire truck a motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Holmquist that the purchase of the fire truck be made from Nelson Equipment company at a price of $14,996.80 including 3%) state tax. Motion carried. Mayor McGibbon read a letter to the council from Carey & Kramer which contained an outline for the sewage disposal requirements for the city of Edmonds. A motion was made by Councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Tuson that the Mayor be empowered to engage consulting engineers to prepare plans and specifications for a sewer disposal plant. Motion carried. Therebeing no further bus' ess the meeting adjourned Uity Clerk Mayor January 20, 1953 `1'he Council met for its regular session with Mayor McGibbon presiding. 'rho roll call showed the following councilmen present Tucker, Tuson, Vollan, Maxwell. -Holmquist and McGinness. The Treasurers report was read to the Council. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the hearing for L. I. D. #68 assessment roll be set for March 3. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Tuson that our City General Election on March 10 be held at the High School in conjunction with the School election on the same date. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman McGinness that the preliminary hearing on the sprague street sewer be set for February 17, and notices be sent out to the property owners. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tuson that we accept the bid from General America Companies for 1953 for $?1089.10. Motion carried. This was the night set for the hearing on L. I. D. 69 and 70. A letter was read from T. J. Eney opposing the assessment, also a number of property owners were present. After some talk a motion was made, by councilman Maxwell and sedonded by councilman Tucker that Ordinance No. 628 be passed and published, confirming the assessment roll. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tuson that Ord. # 629 confirming the assessment roll for L. I. D. #70. Motion carried. The Clerk was asked to contact the following people to serve on the election board for the .city election February 10, Daisy Hansen, Norma Doty, Mary Evans and Bernice Lieying. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that an Ordinance be drawn up changing the rate for water meter installations, inside the city from $55 to ,$65 ,and, oLktside the city from $115' to $125. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Tuson to put Claude Londerville, on a monthly pay.. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Holmquist that Floyd Nissen be paid $290 a.month from the street fund and Fred Williams be paid $310 per month on the water department. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell that Mr. Morrison be authorized to construct a lateral sewer, connecting to the existing manhole at the east end of Homeland Drive, as proposed by the plot plan prepared by Max Meyring and that a connecting fee of $100 each be assessed against Mr. Stine and Mr. Morrison property. Also that the City pay $200 to Mr. Morrison in exchange for an eas&ment in accordance with the plot plan and description as submitted. Motion carried. Maxwell and McTlinnes s,. This was the night set for people to state their opinion on street improvements. Mayor McGibbon turned the meeting over to Councilman McGinness, chairman of the street committee, after introducing the councilmen to the audience. Several hours were taken up in asking and answering questions in regard to the proposed street improvements. The majority of the people present u3iroiein favor of the impr6vement.
