19530915 City Council MinutesA letter was'read from Engineers Carey & Kramer in which they state that the Storm K sewer has been completed and they recommend that the City accept the project as completed. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Tuson that the streetdepartment remove the culvert on Eighth Avenue and lower it fora suitable drainage. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Kincaid that an exception be granted to Mr. Trafton Who lives on Walnut street between third and fourth avenue and Bob Krieger whollives on Dayton street between 7th and 8th, to continue their driveway to the curb so their garage may be used, and the attorney prepare the data for signatures of the property owners to protect the City from any damage which may be caused by this change. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Engels that the curb return be eliminated at the Southeast corner of seventh and Alder to allow access to the existing driveway. Motion carried. A motion was made by Councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell that Ord. #640 setting Sap L. I. D. #73 for a.sewer on seventh avenue from Walnut to Cedar street and on Cedar Street from 7th to 8th avenues. Motion carried. After:some time being spen to make up th budget, the meeting dJoYned. �-1 City Clerk Mayor September 15, 1953 The Council met or its regular session with Mayor McGibbon presiding. The roll call showed the ollowing councilmen present Vmllah, Kincaid, Tuson, Maxwell, Bishop, and McGinness. The measurers report was read to the Council. Six bids were received on the sewer for seventh avenue, L. I. D. #?3, one from Frank CoUccio Construction co., $6,113.20, Kent ConstructionCo., 5250.50, Superior Construction Co., 4683.60, John Patricelli 5039.25,_ National Construction Co., 8314.75 and Stoll & Freese Plymmbing & heating for $6484.46. A motion was madeby councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Tuson that the low bid from Superior Construction Co., be accepted and the Mayor and Clerk are authorized to sign the contract providing a performance bond is produced within 5 days. Motion carried. This was the night set for the hearing on the assessment roll for L. I. D. 66. Mr. Glanville a property owner in the district read a letter from the property owners objecting to the assessment roll, claiming that the roll is more than the estimated cost plus 10%. Some time was spent in going over the details of bhe details of the project. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by Councilman Bishop that the assessment roll be accepted by the City assuming $3369.51 and the property owners pay $6176.61. A roll call voted showed Vollan yes, Kincaid yes, Tuson yes, Maxwell no, Bishop yes and McGinness yes. A %tion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Vollan that thenhearing on Assessment roll for L. I. D. #66 he held October 20. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tuson that National Construction Co., be granted the 15 days excention of time for clean up work, as they requested. Motion carried. The letter from Mr. Pakkala in regards to the tree in the alley was referred to the street committee. A letter was read from the Library Board in which they ask for the changing of the registers so they may have better heating and more space for shelves, also another letter was. read asking for the appointment of Harold Huseby to the library board to replace Mrs. Bailey, who has resigned beacuse of illness. A motion was made by councilman McGinnnes§ and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the council confirm the appointment. M tion carried. The letter which was read from Mr. Riley asking for permission to extend the water line on Glen Street from ninth the -Olympic Avenue was referred to the watereommittee by a motion made by Councilman McGinness and a second by councilman Tuson. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Kincaid that the water department borrow-$9000 from the Bond fund to be paid back by the first of the year. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Tuson that the Street department borrow $2000 from the bond fund, to be paid back by the first of the year. D. #66 be published.
