January 5, 1954 <br />The, Council .met for' its regular session with Mayes `McGibbon presiding. The <br />roll call showed the following councilmen present Tuson, Talen, Kincaid, Maxwell <br />Bishop and McGinness. <br />A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by ,councilman. Kincaid that <br />the bills which were approved by the auditing committee be allowed and wa-rrarits <br />be drawn on the proper funds. Motion carried. <br />A motion, was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by .councilman Tuson that <br />the contract for fuel oil for the City Hall for this year be 'given to Diesel Oil <br />Delivery. Motion carried. <br />is was the night set for the hearing; on L. I.'D.473, which is the sewer on <br />Cedar street between seventh and eighth avenues. There b ein no objections to <br />the assessment roll a motion was made by councilman Maxwrell'and seconded'by <br />Councilman Tuson ,that -�o rdinance No. 647 approving and confirming the assessffieiht <br />I roll be passed. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by Z s �McG'inne t <br />Ord. No. 646 approving and confirming the assessment,ro ~for L. . D. 714 otion <br />carried. <br />I <br />This was also the night -set for the hearing on I.. I. W.-72 for the street work. <br />The Council room was filled with people interestedthis assessment. About <br />50 letter were'received and read to the Council. Several pieces of property were <br />charged for driveways and they do not have a driveway to their -property, everyone <br />protested because their assessment was over the ten percent. Yost Auto Co., protested <br />because+ of an existing curb on Dayton street also because. of..an alley that was <br />deededto the City. <br />After answeringof the some questions asked by the people, this meeting recessed <br />until Thursday night at eight o'clock. <br />January 7, 1954 <br />The Council met for its recessed meeting With Mayor McGibbon presiding. <br />It was reported to the Council by Supt. Lawuon that the driveways had been <br />checked and the change$ have been made on the assessment roll.•'Also he reported <br />lot 37` in bloc}: 121' should be credited for the' alle for " <br />•- Y t71.03, and an addition <br />of 18..08 be made for the vacated alley, making a total credit -of 52.95. also <br />a credit $1 <br />for 17 efeet .of curb at .50 per foot malting a total of $25.50 <br />to be credited against lot 1 in block 121. This was made'a motion by councilman <br />McGinness•and a second,by councilman Maxwell. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman McGinne'ss and seconded by councilman T <br />Ordinance #648 ' approving and confirming the assessment roll.((1; :g;e3Jye ;passed. <br />Motion carried. <br />A motion was'made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman bicGinness that <br />the street department borrow $6000 from the water operating fund for 90 days. <br />Motion carried.. <br />A 'motion was made riy councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman McGinness that <br />Attorney Holte write caret' and Kramer requesting an immediate reply to the previous <br />letter, if no reply is'received within ten days their contract is to be'cancelled. <br />Motion carried. <br />Therebein .no further business .the meeting a dj me <br />City Clerk Mayor . . <br />January- 19.V" 1954 <br />The Council met for its regular session with Mayor McGibbon presiding. The roll call <br />showed the foll©*ing councilmen .present Tuson, Talen, Kincaid,Maxwell, Bishop and <br />McGinness. <br />The water collectors, report was read to the Council. <br />A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilmari_:'2alen that we <br />accept the proposed offer from -the General America Insurance Co.,..for insurance <br />for 1954for103_7.19 ' <br />A motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Kincaid that the <br />proposed emergency Ordinate # 649 be published, and the hearing be set for February 2. <br />This emergency ordinate is for 01800 for the purchase of school property for a city park. <br />Motion carried. <br />A°motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell that <br />February 16 be set for the hearing on the petition for the annexation of tract 16 , <br />to the City of Edmonds, and the notice of hearing be published. Motion carried. <br />
