19540107 City Council MinutesJanuary 5, 1954 The, Council .met for' its regular session with Mayes `McGibbon presiding. The roll call showed the following councilmen present Tuson, Talen, Kincaid, Maxwell Bishop and McGinness. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by ,councilman. Kincaid that the bills which were approved by the auditing committee be allowed and wa-rrarits be drawn on the proper funds. Motion carried. A motion, was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by .councilman Tuson that the contract for fuel oil for the City Hall for this year be 'given to Diesel Oil Delivery. Motion carried. is was the night set for the hearing; on L. I.'D.473, which is the sewer on Cedar street between seventh and eighth avenues. There b ein no objections to the assessment roll a motion was made by councilman Maxwrell'and seconded'by Councilman Tuson ,that -�o rdinance No. 647 approving and confirming the assessffieiht I roll be passed. I This was also the night -set for the hearing on I.. I. W.-72 for the street work. The Council room was filled with people interestedthis assessment. About 50 letter were'received and read to the Council. Several pieces of property were charged for driveways and they do not have a driveway to their -property, everyone protested because their assessment was over the ten percent. Yost Auto Co., protested because+ of an existing curb on Dayton street also because. of..an alley that was deededto the City. After answeringof the some questions asked by the people, this meeting recessed until Thursday night at eight o'clock. January 7, 1954 The Council met for its recessed meeting With Mayor McGibbon presiding. It was reported to the Council by Supt. Lawuon that the driveways had been checked and the change$ have been made on the assessment roll.•'Also he reported lot 37` in bloc}: 121' should be credited for the' alle for " •- Y t71.03, and an addition of 18..08 be made for the vacated alley, making a total credit -of 52.95. also a credit $1 for 17 efeet .of curb at .50 per foot malting a total of $25.50 to be credited against lot 1 in block 121. This was made'a motion by councilman McGinness•and a second,by councilman Maxwell. Motion carried. A motion was'made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman bicGinness that the street department borrow $6000 from the water operating fund for 90 days. Motion carried.. A 'motion was made riy councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman McGinness that Attorney Holte write caret' and Kramer requesting an immediate reply to the previous letter, if no reply is'received within ten days their contract is to be'cancelled. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilmari_:'2alen that we accept the proposed offer from -the General America Insurance Co.,..for insurance for 1954for103_7.19 ' A motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Kincaid that the proposed emergency Ordinate # 649 be published, and the hearing be set for February 2. This emergency ordinate is for 01800 for the purchase of school property for a city park. Motion carried. A°motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell that February 16 be set for the hearing on the petition for the annexation of tract 16 , to the City of Edmonds, and the notice of hearing be published. Motion carried.
