A letter wasread from Mrs. Pakkala,.chariman of the Floretum Club asking for per- <br />mission to place a garbage can on one of our streets. This was referred to the street <br />committee. <br />A amendment to the City Cods Chapter 2, article 1, section 2 1.05 and .07, changing <br />the term of office of City Clerk and Attorney from an elected to an appointed tern <br />to begin at the expiration of the present terms of office, this was made a. motion by <br />Councilman Bishop and seconded by Councilman Kincaid. Motion carried, with a vote <br />of no from Councilman Cloud. <br />This was the night set for the hearing for annexation of the South End to the City. <br />Attorney Holte reported over 75% of the property has signed for the annexation. There <br />being no objections a motion was made by councilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman <br />Cloud that Ord. #6701 for the South Edd Annexation be passed. Motion carried. <br />Howard Gorsuch came before the Council and asked permission to pasture his cons on the <br />east side of the City property at Sixth and Pine street, this permission was granted by <br />a motion made by councilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman Talen, with the stipulation <br />that permission may be revoked at any time. -Motion carried. <br />Councilman Tuson reported he received one bid for the remodeling of the Jail from Walt <br />Payne in the amount of $1500, he recommedded that ogr Building Inspector look over the <br />bid and price. A.motion was made by councilman Tuson that this be referred to the Building <br />Inspector, Mr. Morrison, and the authorisation be approved subject to his approveal. No <br />Second. A motion was made by councilman Kincaid and second by councilman Tuson that the <br />Carpenter and concrete work be done subject to the approval of the Building Inspector <br />and Councilman Tuson for examination and detail work. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman Tuson that the <br />Streetdepartment be authorized to purchase 1000 feet of two inch pipe for the erection <br />of streetsigns. Motion carried. <br />The Plat of Glandville addition as submitted by Engineer Reid was referred to the <br />Planning Commission. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Kincaid that the <br />Union Oil Co., .be allowed to construct a drYaR81;u3e lJgey cB Efi $e °the <br />sanitary sewer, pending construction of storm sewer. on arr e . <br />A motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Talen that Sater & <br />Ridenour furnish a tank and pump for premiun gasoline, on the same basis -as we are now <br />being served for regular gasoline and the streetdepartment is to dig the hole for the <br />tank. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Kincaid and seconded by councilman Tuson that the bills <br />which were approved by the auditing committee be allowed and warrants be drawn on the <br />proper funds. The roll call <br />showed the following councilmen present Tuson, Talen, KincaidV Cloud, Bishop and <br />Sommerseth. <br />The Treasurers report was read to the Council. <br />Three bids were received for the installing of storm sewer east on main street. The <br />.bid from Pacific Concrete Company in the amount of $4621,F. M. Taylor for $4674.50, <br />Harry Squires for $4274.83. Upon a decision from the water committee, it was rec <br />ommended and a motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Taleh" <br />that we accept the bid from Harry Squires for $4274.83, Motion carried. <br />A letter was read to the council, from Ida Holte asking for permission to improve a portion of <br />the,alley. between Maple and Alder street,.east of Ninth. 'A motion was made by Councilman <br />Kincaid and seconded by councilman Sommerseth that the Engineer establish the grade on the <br />alley. Motion carried. <br />A petition for vacating the South 118.67 feet of the alley between Fourth and Fifth <br />Avenues and n� oLyayton Street, was read to the Council. After some discussion and <br />a report that W`s'�w"er( in the alley, this was referred to the street committee. A <br />motion was made -by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Kincaid that Nov. 1 be <br />set -for a hearing on the proposed vacation and the people affected be notified. Motion <br />carried. <br />The establishment fif a grade on ninth and Edmonds street was t fted over to the street <br />committee for a report at the next meeting. <br />
