Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Talen and seconded by councilman Tuson that the <br />hearing on assessment roll for L. I. D. #75 be set for December 6, Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Talen that Resolution <br />#123 fixing the speed limit in the City of Edmonds be adopted. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Talen and seconded by councilman Sommerseth that the <br />amendment to the city Code, Chapter 4 Atticle 6, setting up a Civil Service Commission <br />for the Police Department, beginning January 1, 1956, be adopted. Motion carried. <br />Attorney Holte read to the council contracts from Fire District #13 and #1. A motion <br />was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Cloud that the Mayor and Clerk <br />sign the contract from'Fire District #1 contingent on the opinion of our Fire Chief Astell, <br />botion carried. <br />Attorney Holte was asked to make copies of the contaact from Fire District #13, and <br />mail a copy to each Councilman. He was also asked to contact Mr. Grimes and Nicolay <br />in regards to`their price on the property at Fifth and Edmonds street. <br />A motion was made by councilman Kincaid and seconded by councilman Tuson for Attorney <br />Holte to investigate.the right-of-way on Ninth avenue from Sprague to Edmonds street. <br />Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Kincaid and seconded by councilman Sommerseth that <br />we accept the grade as they now exist on Daley street and Tenth avenue between <br />Sprague and Daley. Motion carried. <br />A• motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded be}r Councilman Talen that we' authorize <br />the -expenditure of200 to rchasvireror mjqf4gl. the water shed. Motion carried. <br />There being no further b iness the meeting adjourned. <br />.. 1 yClerk Mayor <br />November 15,, 1955 <br />The Council met for its regular session with Mayot Maxwell presiding. Therroll call <br />showed the following councilmen present Tuson, Talen, Cloud, Bishop. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Bishop that the Legion <br />be given permission' to erect the.Christmas tree as usual at Fifth & Main street. <br />Motion carried. <br />Four bids were received for the installation of the sanitary sewer on Bmvdoin Road, <br />American Pile Driving Co., for $3862.00, Harry Squires, for $a4219.00, Pacific Concrete <br />Products, for $3961.50, and F. M. Taylor, for $4,944.00. After a conference with the <br />water committee a motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Talen <br />that we accept the bid from American Pile Driving Co., subject to their furnishing a <br />blind within five days. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Talen that the bills <br />which were approved by the auditing committee be allowed and warrants be drawn on the <br />proper funds. Motion carried. <br />Attorney Holte was instructed to draw up an emergency Ordinance for $1500 to complete <br />the remodeling of the City Hall'and Jail, to be paid back over a period of two years. <br />Motion carried. <br />Mayor Maxwell reported he had received a letter from Montlake Terrace in regards to their <br />taking our police calls after office hours, the city to pay.the cost of all installa- <br />tions and $150 per month. A motion was made by councilman Talen and seconded by <br />Councilman.Tuson that we make a coubter-offer not to exceed $60 per month, and the <br />Mayor so notify. Motion carried with a vote of no from Councilman Cloud. <br />A motion was made by councilman Talen and seconded by councilman Cloud that Ordinance <br />No. 672, authorizing the contract between the City of Edmonds and Snohomish County Fire <br />Protection District No. 13, be passed. Motion carried, with a vote of no from Council- <br />man Tuson. <br />A,;motion was made by counciLaan Tuson and seconded by councilman Cloud that Engineer <br />Be`i.d be authorized to start the preliminary plans for our Sewer Disposal plant. <br />Motion carried. <br />The street grades as presented by Engineer Reidy were turned over to the street committee <br />for checking. <br />
