Three bbids were received for six inch cast iron pipe, one from Pacific States Cast Iron <br />Pipe co $5,143.50, United States Pipe & Foundry, for $5116.50, and Grinnell Co., for <br />$5265.00. <br />Four bids were received for lots B and C, gate velves and hydrants, Grinnell Co., lot B, <br />$1560.00, lot C for $2526.75, Hallgren Co., lot B, $1507.80, lot C, $2172.20, Western <br />Utilities Supply Co., lot B, $1480.46, and lot C, 02406,701, Pacific Water Works, lot <br />B, $1492.09, and lot C. $2172.60, and H. D. Fowler.Co.,.lot B $1597.07. <br />This was the night set for a hearing on a street improvement for Seventh avenue from <br />Bell to Casper street, Casper street from Third Avenue to Sunset Aiaenue, Daley street <br />from Olynpic avenue west to a poiht 400 feet west of Ninth avenue, and Sprague stre..et <br />from Olympic avenue west to Ninth avenue, and tenth avenue from Sprague street north to a <br />point 110 feet north of Daley street. The property owners present at this hearing were <br />in favor of the improvement and a motion was made by councilman Talen and seconded by <br />Councilman Sommerseth that Resolution of Intention No. 124, setting up this improvement <br />be passed. Motion carried. <br />Several other property owners asked to have Pine street from 5th to 8th, seventh street <br />from Cedar to Fir, Fir streetfrom 6th to ninth, and Edmonds and Bell streets west of <br />Olympic avenue -improved. May 15 was set for a hearing night on these street improvements. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman Tuson that the bills <br />as approved -by the auditing committee be allowed and warrants be drawn on the proper <br />funds. Motion carried. <br />The meeting adjourned until Wednesday night, at which time the bids will be considered, <br />May 2, 1956. <br />The council met for its recessed•meeting, with Mayor Maxwell presiding. <br />After considering the bids which.were opened Tuesday night, a motion was made by Councilman <br />Tuson and seconded by Councilman Steed that we accept the bid from United States Pipe & <br />Foundry Co., for 27oo feet of six inch Cast Iron Pipe, in the amount of $5116.50y with <br />delivery in 14 days. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Cloud that we accept the, <br />bid of Western Utility Supply Co., for lot B,_ gate valves and fittings,. in the amount of <br />1480.46, with immediate delivery, Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Cloud that we accept the <br />bid of Hallgren Co., for the fire hydrants, in the amount of $2172.20, .less 2%-10days, with <br />delivery in one week.- Motion carried: , . • . . , • . <br />A motion was made by Councilmman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Steed to reject all <br />street bids unit C. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Talen that we accept <br />the bid from' Thorborn & Logozo for the installation of water & sewer lines, item A and B, <br />in the amount . of $162987.50. .Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Steed that the request <br />of Roy Meister to build a second.story on his garage, subject to the rgquirements as per <br />the•building inspector. Motion carried. <br />The wateroollectors report was read to the Council. <br />The comments from the report of the examination made by the State Examiner covering <br />the period of April 1, 1954 to December 31, 1955, was read to the council. <br />A letter was read from Carl S. Harris protesting the improvement of Sprague street <br />between seventh and Eighth Avenue. <br />Atto mey Holte and Mayor Maxwell were appointed as the two delegates to the convention <br />of the Association of Washington Cities at Yakima, by a motion which was made by <br />Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Sommerseth.
